Aramco Stadium (Arabic: ملعب ارامكو, romanized: maleab aramku) is a planned multi-purpose stadium located in the north of Khobar, Saudi Arabia.[1][2] It is set to be a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and has a proposed capacity of 46,096 people, where it will host fixtures in the group stage, round of 32, and round of 16.[3] It will also be used for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.[4]
The stadium in named after Aramco a majority Saudi Arabian state-owned petroleum and natural gas company that is the national oil company of Saudi Arabia. Upon its opening Aramco will operate the stadium, while Roshn will own the stadium.
Description
Construction
A partnership between Roshn, a Public Investment Fund owned real estate development company, and Aramco was established to build this stadium.[1] Its opening will take place in 2026.[2] Construction on the Aramco Stadium began in 2024, and will be completed in 2026.[3]
Situated along the Arabian Gulf, the stadium’s architecture pays homage to the sea’s dynamic character and its deep connection to the local community. The whirlpool-shaped design, inspired by the Dawwama phenomenon that appears off the coastline during summer, features overlapping sail-like structures and elegant wave motifs, harmonizing effortlessly with the coastal environment.[3] Aramco Stadium will be situated in northern Khobar, near the Corniche, with a focus on accessibility through public transportation, bike paths, and pedestrian walkways. Designed to serve as more than just a sports venue, it aims to become a long-standing cultural hub and a central gathering place for the community.[3]
Post-2034
Following the World Cup, it will be primarily used by Al-Qadsiah of the Saudi Pro League.[4]
