The 2025 Carlos Alcaraz tennis season officially began on 12 January 2024, with the start of the Australian Open in Melbourne.[2][3]

During this season, Alcaraz:

  • Won his first indoor hardcourt title
  • Became the first man to win ATP 500 titles on four surfaces (clay, grass, outdoor and indoor hardcourt)
  • Became the youngest man in history to win titles on all four modern surfaces - 22 years and 9 months

Yearly summary

Winter hard court tournaments

Alcaraz began his 2025 season at the Australian Open, where he was attempting to become the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam.[4] He reached the quarterfinals, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets.[5]

Alcaraz then played the Rotterdam Open for the first time. In the first round, he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp in three sets, avenging his loss at the 2024 US Open.[6] He reached the final, where he beat Alex De Minaur in three sets to claim the first indoor hardcourt title of his career.[7] This made him the youngest man ever to win titles on every modern surface.[8]
