Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Finance
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Finance. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Finance|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Finance. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

- Delete failing WP:NCORP. No independent coverage found, reliable or otherwise. Not only does the coverage found online consist of press releases, but they are copies of the same two press releases and then some outright advertising. • Gene93k (talk) 05:16, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

One of several Trusts listed on the Tata Group page, none of which appear to be notable. This particular one I cannot locate any significant coverage that meets WP:ORGCRIT. CNMall41 (talk) 07:48, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Finance, Companies, and India. CNMall41 (talk) 07:48, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Do not delete
What makes the topic notable is the following information about the Trust:
- "The Lady Tata Memorial Trust was one of the earliest philanthropic trusts created to support world-wide leukaemia research. Very little was known about leukaemia at the time of the establishment of the Trust. The Trust provided fellowships and grants to some of the leading international researchers and contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge about leukaemia."
Even though there is very little information about the Trust in the public domain, in my view, the topic is hugely notable because of the fact that the Trust "has contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge about leukaemia". So, I strongly oppose the move to delete the article. Krishnachandranvn (talk) 12:50, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for confirming the WP:BEFORE assessment with "there is very little information about the Trust in the public domain." Unfortunately, significant coverage is required so having little information is not going to support notability. --CNMall41 (talk) 19:28, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge and Redirect: No SigCov to justify a stand-alone article. The best option, per WP:ATD-M, would be to merge the content into the Sir Dorabji Tata and Allied Trusts, as it aligns well with the broader context.--— MimsMENTOR talk 13:34, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

Fails WP:NCORP This article was created by the sockmaster User:Edson Rosa. They have created many non-notable companies.
This was previous nominated for deletion but had no consensus. I am nominating this again as there's no justification so far to give the subsidiary its own article when article of parent Votorantim Group already exists. Imcdc Contact 06:56, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

- Bank charge (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
A dictionary definition with only one source, discussing a particular controversy apparently already covered at Overdraft fee. The general topic of all charges made by banks its better at Bank or Overdraft fee; a general discussion of all fees possibly charged by banks would be a discussing of the economic model of banking, which would be better at Bank. Mrfoogles (talk) 00:07, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge into Bank and/or Fee. Although, I'm somewhat astonished that this article doesn't exist, but from looking, it seems like it was drastically reduced in article size due to OR[2]. The related topic of Bank fee redirects to a small section on Fee, but could equally fit over at Bank. TiggerJay (talk) 00:30, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'd say Fee now that you suggest it. This mostly works as a sort of summary of the articles on individual fees -- it works as a few paragraphs in the Fee article, assuming citations can be found. Mrfoogles (talk) 03:53, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Finance and Business. Skynxnex (talk) 03:29, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep and expand, possibly rename Bank fees. These fees are regulated and sometimes controversial. See for example the Roosevelt Institute article The Business of Bank Fees, How to Avoid Bank Fees (American Bankers Association), Bank Fees: Federal Banking Regulators Could Better Ensure That Consumers Have Required Disclosure Documents Prior to Opening Checking or Savings Accounts (Government Accountability Office), Bank Fees in Australia (Reserve Bank of Australia). - Keep but move to Bank fees. I pay them monthly to my bank. Bearian (talk) 03:49, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Keep (and move) per the above. In addition to reports on the consumer-side effects, there is also some interesting research less focused on the consumer, such as DeYoung, Robert; Rice, Tara N. (2004). "How do banks make money? the fallacies of fee income". Economic Perspectives. 28 (4). Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago: 34–51. and Tennant, David; Sutherland, Richard (2014-09-10). "What types of banks profit most from fees charged? A cross-country examination of bank-specific and country-level determinants". Journal of Banking & Finance. 49: 178–190. doi:10.1016/j.jbankfin.2014.08.023. I believe there are sufficient published sources that this article certainly could have the potential expand beyond the dictionary definition it is right now.
