- Atta Islands → Attu Island (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Unclear connection with target. Unlikely misspelling, could be potentially confused with ʻAta. Delete. (NPP action) 🌺 Cremastra (talk) 21:09, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Comment This does not appear to be a misspelling, but possibly an older and/or alternative name (perhaps due to transliteration standards changing over time?). History of slavery in Alaska uses the term, cited to a 1903 New York Times article which describes them as the "westernmost of the Aleutian chain". Which matches the geography of Attu Island.
A 1978 paper in the library of the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services inlcudes on page 83: "The breeding distribution of murres in the Aleutians is rather spotty, with colonies of over 5000 birds occurring only at Bogoslof, Kagamil, Chaguluk, Koninji, Buldir, Ag attu, and Atta Islands (Sekora et al. in press)" (That source doesn't appear to be online).
This 1873 map by the U.S. Coast Survey "covers the Aleutian Archipelago from Atta Island to Unimak Island" (although whether the island is labelled "Atta" or "Attu" needs someone with better eyesight than me to be certain).
This 1942 Oregon Newspaper might refer to an Atta Island or Islands in the Aleutian Islands chain, but the OCR isn't great so I'd want to verify that with the image (I don't have a Newspapers.com account)
There is also Atta Island in the Philippines, which doesn't appear to be mentioned anywhere on en.wp. "Island" or "Islands" seems very inconsistent regarding Alaska - my guess is that the plural is used for the Near Islands group and the singular for the largest of them - but the Philippine one is always singular so this title should not redirect there, but a "not to be confused with" hatnote would be appropriate from the target. I can find no evidence that this is ever used to refer to ʻAta.
There are other sources that mention an Atta Island in the Aleutian Isalnds too, e.g. [1], [2] and given the era involved only a fraction of sources will be in a place and format Google can find. So in summary, I can find no evidence to back up the nomination and so do not support deletion. There are plenty of sources for an Atta Island in the same part of the world as Attu Island, but nothing that makes it explicit that they are the same (if nothing else it's a plausible search term as a likely OCR error). As for the plural, this is also used but less so, and it is only my supposition that it refers to the Near Islands, but it is logical (Attu/Atta is the largest of the group) I've not found any evidence to the contrary. I'm not sure what to recommend here, but definitely not deletion. Getting anything more definitive is almost definitely going to require offline resource, and possibly from someone more local than London. Thryduulf (talk) 19:28, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

- August Moon → Mid-Autumn Festival (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
I think August Moon (Mr. Wiggles) should get the page, with an {{about}} disambiguator and the 2 instances of August Moon directing to the festival should be piped correctly. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish·growths) 21:07, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- The two wiki-links to the Chinese-festival sense of August Moon now pipe directly to Mid-Autumn Festival. I have no objection to the proposal to redirect August Moon to the musician, with an {{about}} hatnote. -- M.boli (talk) 03:23, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

- I Lost My Little Boy → Ponyo (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
This is an {{R with history}} that came from a 2012 AfD that closed as merge to Ponyo. However, no content was actually merged, so this redirect now points to an article with no mentions of the subject. I propose to delete. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:37, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: If anyone's confused as to why Ponyo was chosen as a merge target (I certainly was), it seems to be because some news outlets announced that this would be the "next Studio Ghibli movie" in 2005. After Howl's Moving Castle (2004),
the next Ghibli film was Ponyo (2008).Sorry, I forgot about Tales from Earthsea (2006)! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:45, 2 January 2024 (UTC) - Delete: especially as reading an early version of this page is not encouraging https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=I_Lost_My_Little_Boy&oldid=484916877 JAYFAX (talk) 20:57, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- The AfD closed as merge, so it is not clear why the closer TParis did not perform the merge. The AfD provides more context of the "rumour" here: Talk:Ponyo#I Lost My Little Boy. Assuming this was a short-lived rumour from a decade back, delete. Jay 💬 06:20, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

- Restore and AFD this old article per WP:BLAR. Duckmather (talk) 15:43, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. It started as a redirect, was turned into an article by a sock and turned back into the redirect as a WP:G5. Restoration is not required. Jay 💬 06:46, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Jay: As Launchballer points out (and as the reflist of the old article suggests), the topic of "Cock Destroyers" is potentially notable and article-worthy in itself; that's why I suggest restoring the article. Duckmather (talk) 00:53, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sure is, and the content may be good, but we're talking about a G5 criteria here about a sock getting credit. Jay 💬 07:17, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Duckmather: If you want to take responsibility for the old content, G5 can be set aside. But in that case why send it to AfD? -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 01:07, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Tamzin: I was under the impression that sock-written articles are usually deleted because they are not high quality enough though (and this was why G5 was even added as a speedy deletion criterion)? I think restoring-and-AfD-ing seems to be a safer choice to build consensus about whether we should even have an article, especially since Jay opposed my restoration suggestion. Duckmather (talk) 03:53, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Duckmather: That is one reason that G5 exists, but there are other reasons, the most fundamental being that when the community has said someone is unwelcome here, they are not owed the assumption of good faith inherent in reviewing their contributions. That's why I, like many admins, won't enforce G5 in cases where someone is willing to take responsibility. So it really comes down to whether you're taking responsibility for that content. (I want to be clear, I'm not !voting here; this is an inquiry to resolve an ambiguity before closing.) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 05:34, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Duckmather whether an article was written by a sock implies nothing about its quality. While there may be a correlation, this does not imply causation. Thryduulf (talk) 20:38, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

It is not helpful to redirect to a target that has no mention of the subject in question. These redirects do imply that these songs charted, so they may be notable per WP:NSONG. Deletion to encourage article creation may be desirable. -- Tavix (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
