Art+Feminism 2019 Los Angeles Events!

Join Art+Feminism's annual worldwide Wikipedia edit-a-thon and help close Wikipedia's gender gap at one of these Los Angeles–area museums this March!

These Los Angeles events are co-hosted by online magazine East of Borneo and include step-by-step Wikipedia instruction for beginners. Bring your laptop or tablet computer and any reference materials you'd like to work from or share. People of all gender expressions and identities are encouraged to attend.

Sunday, March 3: The ICA LA

A lack of representation is no laughing matter! The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, hosts an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon focused on Women+Comedy—performers, writers, and more. Wikipedia training sessions for beginners will take place at Noon at 3pm, and a mid-afternoon comedy break with the stand-up comedy series JOSH will feature performances by Michelle Tea, Tara Jepsen, Kirsten Kuppenbender, and Atsuko Okatsuka. 1717 E. 7th Street (Downtown), Noon–5pm.

Saturday, March 9: Vincent Price Art Museum

The Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College hosts an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon focused on Latinx Women+Non-Binary Artists. A Wikipedia training session for beginners will take place at Noon. 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez (Monterey Park), Noon–4pm.

Sunday, March 10: Hammer Museum

Hammer Museum hosts an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon focused on Women+Film+Media. Wikipedia training sessions for beginners will take place at Noon and 3pm, and a free photo booth invites women artists and filmmakers to stop by and have their portraits taken for Wikimedia Commons. 10899 Wilshire Boulevard (Westwood), Noon–5pm.

Sunday, March 17: LACMA

LACMA hosts an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon focused on Women+Design+Craft. Wikipedia training sessions for beginners will be held at Noon and 3pm. At 2pm, LACMA Associate Curator Staci Steinberger will lead a free tour of West of Modernism: California Graphic Design, 1975–1995, focusing on key women represented in the exhibition. 5905 Wilshire Boulevard (Miracle Mile), Noon–5pm.

Sunday, March 31: California African American Museum

California African American Museum hosts an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon focused on women artists in CAAM’s permanent collection and those who have exhibited at the museum over the years. A Wikipedia training session for beginners will be held at 1pm. 600 State Drive (Exposition Park), 1–4pm.
