The result was keep. There are important reasons to maintain a distinction between the two people listed on this disambig page even though one does not have an article (See Brad Patrick's comment below). WjBscribe 22:10, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reason - Article exists solely to disambiguate Les Balsiger, a non-notable university administrator at a Catholic university, from Les Balsiger, a notable anti-Catholic activist. The article on Les Balsiger, the university administrator was deleted per this AFD discussion.
Per discussion on Talk:Les Balsiger (activist), Les Balsiger, the university administrator, objects to the possibility of people confusing him with Les Balsiger, the anti-Catholic activist.
I understand and sympathize with Les Balsiger, the administrator, but there really is little that we can do with the fact that people have the same name as other people. What if someone came along and objected to be confused with Charles Manson or another mass murderer or serial killer? Would we create disambig pages for them? Taken to an extreme, every biographical article would have to go through a disambig page. There might be people named George Bush who don't want to be confused with President George Bush or Prime Minister Tony Blair. And so on and so on.

- Turn it into a redirect. I'm not sure what the big fuss is all about. As a general rule, a disambiguation page that points to only one article should either be changed to a redirect, or else deleted under CSD G6. You can make that call; it does not require an AFD discussion. YechielMan 18:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- User:BradPatrick redirected Les Balsiger to Les Balsiger (disambiguation), the page that is the subject of this AFD. I subsequently redirected Les Balsiger to Les Balsiger (activist). The "right" move, IMHO, would be to delete Les Balsiger and move Les Balsiger (activist) back to Les Balsiger where it used to be.
- The reason that this does not qualify as a G6 speedy delete is that the deletion would certainly be controversial since at least one user (BradPatrick) would probably object. --Richard 18:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- If you're looking for consensus, you'll hear no objection from me. YechielMan 02:17, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Object. I do object. In my view, the distinction between someone of such notability as the President, Manson, etc., and this situation is one of proportion. Wikipedia gives no information at all to differentiate between two people with a fairly rare name, and near zero notability in the first place, except here, one is an anti-Catholic activist and the other is a guy who desperately wishes not to be confused with him, given his profession and beliefs. And, despite the "tough" attitude I see above, we should be humane in dealing with people who are being hurt by the project. There is insufficient data to distinguish the subject of the article as no other Les Balsiger. There exists a likelihood of confusion that is completely impossible for Bush, Blair, etc. Oh, yeah, and he would very much like to sue the Foundation if nothing is done about it. So, leave this page. Please.--Brad Patrick 16:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Something should be done to distinguish. I would have kept the two pages with a disambig. Now, I would add a note to the Les Balsiger (activist) page that mentions the administrator. Particularly since "Les Balsiger" is not an exclusive trademark of either of them, & the administrator is willing to harass us over it. Sometimes, whether we like it or not, the reporter can't help becoming part of the story. Ventifax 23:09, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
