Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Muslim League National Guard → Muslim National Guard (currently a redirect back to Muslim League National Guard) (move · ) – Please revert this undiscussed move by Kautilya3. - Senator Padilla → Senator Padilla (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Senator Padilla) (move · ) – Clear primary topic now as the other ones are state senators and so should redirect to Alex Padilla. Sahaib (talk) 12:01, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Senator Banks → Senator Banks (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Senator Banks) (move · ) – Clear primary topic now as the other ones are state senators and so should redirect to Jim Banks. Sahaib (talk) 10:54, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Senator Justice → Senator Justice (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Senator Justice) (move · ) – Clear primary topic now as the other ones are state senators and so should redirect to Jim Justice, similar to Senator McCormick. Sahaib (talk) 10:45, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

- I will leave this for somebody who knows the topic better, but I don't see any major controversy myself. It looks like NGRAM viewer slightly favors the proposed title, but I don't know what the sample size is. ASUKITE 16:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Verticillium theobromae → Musicillium theobromae (move · ) – Current name has changed to Musicillium theobromae and the old name is now a synonym as of 2007 according to the USDA [1] Reneeesmith02 (talk) 17:54, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Nashan → Nashshan (currently a redirect back to Nashan) (move · ) – The title of this ancient Arabian kingdom is misspelled. It is Nashshan, not Nashan. See https://archeologie.culture.gouv.fr/proche-orient/en/nashshan or https://ancientarabia.huma-num.fr/dictionary/definition/nashshan-kingdom-and-tribe or https://dasi.cnr.it/index.php?id=dasi_prj_sit&prjId=1&corId=0&colId=0&navId=845928987&recId=39 (scroll to under "Location and toponomy") Pogenplain (talk) 20:30, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ethiopian Ground Forces → Ethiopian Army (currently a redirect back to Ethiopian Ground Forces) (move · ) – Always referred to as the "Ethiopian Army" or "YeEthiopia Serawit" in local sources, not "Ground Forces". But most importantly it literally has the name "Ethiopian Army" on its official uniforms, see the pictures:[1] and [2] Socialwave597 (talk) 02:08, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning → Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (currently a redirect back to Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning) (move · ) – Machinery of government changes in November 2024 renamed this department. - Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk → Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk (currently a redirect back to Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk) (move · ) – Need to delete redirect to make this move, for consistency with Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk. Thanks Loafiewa (talk) 19:06, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Loafiewa, is this not the title of a WP:MAJORWORK, which would suggest the other article should be moved to use title case? Sometimes the WP norms are different from the stylization of official titles. (Unless this is supposed to fall under a Russian WP:FOREIGNTITLE that happens to be in English…) -2pou (talk) 21:12, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- GNOME LaTeX → Enter TeX (move · ) – The developer of GNOME LaTeX has renamed the project to Enter TeX and the article should be updated to reflect the change. The old title should become a redirect. CameronLP (talk) 02:01, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Zhou-class submarine → Type 041 submarine (currently a redirect back to Zhou-class submarine) (move · ) – Should be made WP:CONSISTENT with other PLAN submarine class article names. laptop bird talkcontribs 03:19, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- St. Leonhard, Graz → St. Leonhard (Graz) (currently a redirect back to St. Leonhard, Graz) (move · ) – Inconsistent naming convention with other Graz districts. See Innere Stadt (Graz), Lend (Graz), Gries (Graz), Liebenau (Graz), St. Peter (Graz), Ries (Graz), Andritz (Graz), Eggenberg (Graz), as well as de:St. Leonhard (Graz) (and others) who also use this convention on German Wikipedia. - Daniel Webster (Florida politician) → Dan Webster (currently a redirect instead to Daniel Webster (disambiguation)) (move · ) – WP:CONCISE – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 04:18, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Having two articles on unrelated people at Dan Webster and Daniel Webster would be downright confusing. Oppose. * Pppery * it has begun... 06:15, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. A casual internet search seems to indicate that Daniel Webster (Florida politician) is primarily referred to as "Daniel Webster" and secondarily as "Dan Webster" (about an 80/20 ratio). "Dan Webster" could be a natural disambiguation. Dan Webster (baseball) is the only subject at Daniel Webster (disambiguation) that is substantially referred to as "Dan Webster" at all, which has 1 view/day vs. 230/day for Daniel Webster (Florida politician). Altogether, I prefer the current situation. Daask (talk) 16:30, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- IMT Smile → I.M.T. Smile (currently a redirect back to IMT Smile) (move · ) – The band's name includes periods after each letter. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 14:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Revirvlkodlaku WP:COMMONNAME seems to be without periods, any sources? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:19, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- All their album releases include periods, so while it's likelly that they are often written about without the periods, this seems to be the proper way to spell the band's name. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 00:32, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

- Either click on the "discuss" link next to your original suggestion or just delete all this here and start over by following the instructions at WP:RSPM. But I'll warn you that Wikipedia doesn't really care what's on the album cover. Wikipedia uses WP:COMMONNAME, not WP:OFFICIALNAME. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:43, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

- @Revirvlkodlaku The current redirect at Nuda serves as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. GTrang (talk) 04:30, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, so can that be changed? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 10:06, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Beroidae should stay as the primary meaning, because the rest are just works of art. — Petr Matas 13:49, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Can you explain what you mean? Are works of art seen as having lower importance? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 13:59, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Works of art may not have lower importance, but real-world meanings come to the mind first. For example, Mammals are a biological class, exactly like Nuda. Other meanings are only artworks and art bands and the primary meaning is the class. — Petr Matas 14:47, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

- Blood-oxygen-level-dependent_imaging → Blood oxygenation level-dependent imaging (move · ) – Page is named with a common misabbreviation of BOLD. To correctly reflect the abbreviation in the original paper by Ogawa et al. 1990, PNAS, it should be blood oxygenation level-dependent. Skmri (talk) 01:16, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Skmri there was a discussion back in 2017 leading to the current title. Even though the change is relatively small, it may be worth having a discussion to make sure this doesn't get reverted ASUKITE 15:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'd like to comment on this that the hyphenation it should most definitely be Blood oxygenation level–dependent imaging with an endash since "blood oxygenation level" is a multi-word phrase and is modifying "dependent". See WP:ENDASH. I'll leave the distinction between oxygen and oxygenation to the RM. Bensci54 (talk) 17:09, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Turkey → Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Ankara (currently a redirect back to Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Turkey) (move · ) – The article was moved in April 2022 from WP:COMMONNAME. News reports and official websites use the former title. Taiwan does not have an official representative office in Istanbul but has wanted one since the 2000s. Maybe when it gets done there could be a namechange for the article to encompass both. DA1 (talk) 00:11, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
