There is no reason to delete this page and other articles like Adarsh liberal or Pseudo-secular this should remain. Therealbey (talk) 20:07, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Foreign secretary (Kerala) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/thiruvananthapuram/kerala-govt-appoints-vasuki-as-foreign-secretary-in-state/articleshow/111876006.cms. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Chittagong, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. RegentsPark (comment) 00:31, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why you moved chattogram to Chittagong I have disclosed the reason in Talk:Chattogram. I have moved the page from Chittagong to Chattogram as it is the official name by the government of Bangladesh and also locally used most and according to Google trends Chattogram is the most used name. I am moving according to WP:COMMONNAME Therealbey (talk) 00:34, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive moves

Information icon Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Salman Fazlur Rahman. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia.
In your own edit summary, you wrote "commonly known as Salman F Rahman", which is correct - reliable sources overwhelmingly refer to him with his middle initial. Yet you violated the middle names and initials section of the encyclopedia's naming conventions for people by moving the article to Salman Fazlur Rahman, claiming that the title using his middle initial is "misspelled". --Worldbruce (talk) 16:05, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

please I request to unblock me from moving pages . As a new user I regret for what I done and I ensure that I will not do anything like that ever. Moving pages is important while editing like if I create a page and I think it is wrong then I can't change it while I am blocked. please unblock me from moving pages. I want to move but I can't and it's my right. for unnecessary page moves you can't give me whole life block punishment it's too much for me. I am a new user I can do mistakes initially but for that you set a expiry at least you block me for whole life. I am very sorry for what I done and I ensure you I will not do this kind of mistake ever. Please unblock me or at least set a expiry Therealbey (talk) 7:01 pm, Today (UTC−4)

Concern for the page you have created: The curse of the eighth decade

Notice

The article The curse of the eighth decade has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A quotation from a psalm and a line that essentially repeats its content in prose cannot be considered encyclopedic

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The point I am hammering over and over is the article was prevented from being created for a reason, so you should not have done so without asking. In specific, it requires much more time and effort from other editors that have to discover what has happened, and then intervene at AfD to delete the article again—than if you had simply asked first. We are all volunteering our time here You presently do not seem to understand the degree to which certain behaviors are disruptive, if well-meaning, and that is why you have been prevented from performing an activity that has a particularly high potential for disruption—it requires editors with specific rights to notice what you have done and undo the move in many cases. That is not fair. Remsense ‥  05:32, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That wasn't in my mind at that time. Ok, let me correct my mistake, then I will ask again for unblocking. Thanks Therealbey (talk) 10:24, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The lallantop moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to The Lallantop. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and this is an unimproved duplicate of The Lallantop, which was repeatedly redirected by User:GSS, User:JalenBarks, User:DaxServer and User:WaddlesJP13. If you can improve this draft to meet WP:NWEB, then please feel free to submit it for review, and it can be merged to the correct title. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Wikishovel (talk) 19:26, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm JoshuaJ28. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Head of state seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. WP:NPOV is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia. To avoid edit war over adding images of personal favourites, 3 points and 2 criteria have to be considered:

Points:
1) GDP (in top 3, continent wise)
2) HDI (above 0.700)
3) Democracy index (classified as "electoral/liberal democracy") (or) Freedom in the World (classified as "free", use only if Democracy index data not available for the specific country)

Criteria:
1) Atleast an image should represent every single continent (except Antarctica), according to Template:Wikipedia continent-based projects
2) Atleast 3/9 images should represent women, according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red

All these points have to be satisfied in order to be included in the infobox. It's not random/personal choice. GDP and HDP point can be ignored only if it affects the continent/women criteria.

Country GDP HDI Democracy/Freedom Women criteria Continent criteria
Samoa 10th (Oceania) HDI 0.702 84/100 Freedom yes Oceania already represented by Australia
Marshall Islands 4th (Oceania) HDI 0.731 93/100 Freedom yes Oceania already represented by Charles III
Bangladesh 15th (Asia) HDI 0.670 electoral autocracy no Asia already represented by Japan

Marshall Islands added under women criteria although it did not satisfy the GDP point. The same procedure followed in Head of government in which Samoa added. And you removed both to add Bangladesh, which does not satisfy the requirements of procedure. JoshuaJ28 (talk) 02:35, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Asif Mahmud

Information icon Hello, I'm Bruno pnm ars. I noticed that you recently removed content from Asif Mahmud without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.
Please review WP:P&G before making further edits on the mainspace. Bruno 🌹 (talk) 18:50, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did explain it in summery!? Therealbey (talk) 22:10, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I requested an "accurate edit summary." In your previous explanation, you mentioned being "inspired by Yariv Levin," an Israeli Knesset member who has held five different ministerial positions and other roles. However, Asif Mahmud, by contrast, has only held three advisory roles. Furthermore, this is not a matter of personal inspiration or preference. Per Wikipedia’s editing guidelines (WP:EP), the roles and titles of officeholders should not be altered based on individual interpretation. For consistency, please see article of other figures like Sheikh Hasina, Joe Biden, or Donald Trump, whose official titles are maintained without subjective modifications. Bruno 🌹 (talk) 06:32, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then why Yariv Levin page is like that ? Therealbey (talk) 11:37, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The structure of Yariv Levin's Wikipedia page is likely designed this way to reflect his varied roles in the Israeli government, rather than a single, long-term executive position. He’s held multiple ministerial and legislative positions, like Minister of Justice, Speaker of the Knesset, and Minister of Tourism, often concurrently or switching roles (very common in the Israeli political landscape). In a parliamentary system, it’s common for high-ranking politicians to have such diverse responsibilities, which is why his page focuses on his specific duties rather than office transitions or successors.

The article on Asif Mahmud shouldn’t be structured like Yariv Levin's because Mahmud’s role and career trajectory likely differ from Levin's in significant ways. Levin’s page format works because he’s held a series of varied, often concurrent roles in Israel’s parliamentary system, where it’s common for high-ranking politicians to move frequently between ministerial and legislative positions. This setup makes a broad, categorized structure suitable for quickly showing his influence across different areas without focusing on a continuous office or leadership term.

PS:If Mahmud’s career has been more focused or linear, or if he holds a longer-term position that defines his public role, a structure like Levin’s would make his page feel too scattered. For someone with a more straightforward path or a role with continuous responsibilities, it makes sense to use a format that highlights the timeline and key accomplishments of that position more clearly, rather than breaking it down by categories of roles or responsibilities. Got it. Therealbey (talk) 19:00, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ulu al-ʿAzm

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Ulu al-ʿAzm a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.

This is especially problematic since you are currently blocked from moving pages the normal way. :Jay8g [VT•E] 03:58, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to point this out. :) Also, I'm confused by the move from ʾUlu al-ʿAzm to Ulu al-ʿAzm: the page contents still use the Romanization "ʾUlu al-ʿAzm" with the modifier letter right half ring, and Unicode Inspector tells me that the Arabic (taken from the page contents) really does start with a hamza, so I don't understand why you'd remove it specifically from the page title. (Note I am very much not an Arabic-speaker myself.)
At the same time, I'm not sure if the article needs to exist at all. I don't see the title phrase even appearing on Arabic Wikipedia, for example. --Quuxplusone (talk) 16:17, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's something that is not in Arabic Wikipedia but a widely known thing specially in Muslim community. Muslim scholars use this word to refer 5 high ranking prophets in Islam. And isn't (ء‎) U+0621? Therealbey (talk) 17:17, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(ء‎) is U+0621 ARABIC LETTER HAMZA; (أ) is U+0623 ARABIC LETTER ALEF WITH HAMZA ABOVE. The word أولو definitely begins with hamza and would be transliterated ʾUlu, right? (And the word اولو doesn't, and would be transliterated Ulu?) --Quuxplusone (talk) 04:34, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay with Aleef that's right right! I agree now it should be ʾUlu. It was mistake. Should I request move? Therealbey (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. IMHO since the original "move" was a cut-and-paste, it's fine for the "move back" to be a simple revert; so I did that myself; and then I merged in some improvements that had been made to the other copy in the short time since the "move." So everything's now in the correct state again, as far as I'm concerned. Now the article is at ʾUlu al-ʿAzm, and Ulu al-ʿAzm is a redirect again. --Quuxplusone (talk) 23:29, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Thnx for helping on my mistake Therealbey (talk) 23:38, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How can one get you to write a wiki page?

Hi Therealbey! It's an honor to message you, I truly appreciate your work. I'm looking for someone like you, great writer and experienced writing in Wiki, to write a biography on the founder and CEO of the company I work for. He's a coder building something revolutionary for the software development industry using AI. He worked for Microsoft and Accenture as a senior developer and consultant, has some press and quite the inspirational background. Would lobe for you to write it and post it, if this is something you can do, let's hop on a call. 12.189.54.26 (talk) 21:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I can, but first I have to know: is your company covered in big, reliable press (non-promotional) and is the founder featured in big news, magazines, or books? Therealbey (talk) 23:30, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
