Aberdeen Largest Employers

Hi, I was looking at the Aberdeen, SD page and noticed you edited the section for largest employers. I tried to verify the information with the source cited (ADC), but they said the numbers data do not exist (at least not through them). Is there another source where you found the numbers? I am trying to track down a list of the largest employers in the area. Thanks. Haidavai (talk) 20:39, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on East Resources requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Paid editing disclosure required

Hi Shortride. You have created over 100 articles about companies and brands, with zero talk page contributions, suggesting that your activity here constitutes paid editing for your clients. Since you're a productive editor who abides by policies and guidelines, that by itself is not a problem.

However, Wikimedia:Terms of Use requires you to disclose all subjects with which you have an association (paid editing, employee, or otherwise). Please put that disclosure on your user page. Your account may be blocked — complying with the Terms of Use is a condition for having an account on Wikipedia.

To see examples of paid editing disclosures, have a look at User:WWB Too or User:009o9 or User:VZBob. You can also ask questions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cooperation/Paid editor help. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:34, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I do not edit for pay and I do not edit my employer's page beyond minor errors. --Shortride (talk) 01:40, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What is your association with the companies and brands about which you have created articles? Even if you are not paid, you are still required to disclose any conflict of interest. I am curious how you select topics for creating articles, and why you focus exclusively on commercial topics. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:56, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am interested in ownership of brands. I work for a local government.

Thanks for the explanation. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:30, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Country of publication for academic journals

Hi, I see that you have added country names to several academic journal infoboxes. I have reverted these additions. In all cases, these journals are international journals published by an international publisher (one time you put "Germany" for a Springer-published journal, one time "United Kingdom". We usually leave the "country" field empty, given how international academic publishing is these days (and just got more so, since the Nature Publishing Group and Springer are merging, so is that now a German company or a UK one?) The country field can be filled out if a journal has a clear national focus, such as a journal published by, or on behalf of, a national society. Even then, things are often not clear-cut, because many national societies have their journals published by large international publishers and have international editorial boards. Often even the editor-in-chief is from a different country... Hope this explains. --Randykitty (talk) 14:56, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Springer listed the contact information for their journals by country. When you check the ISSN on WorldCat, the country matches.--Shortride (talk) 23:44, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nevertheless, these journals (and publisher) are thoroughly international, so listing a country does not make much sense. There's a longstanding consensus at WP Academic Journals only to list countries in the special cases I listed above. --Randykitty (talk) 09:32, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improving Assurant

Hi Shortride! Thanks for your addition to Assurant. I have a paid COI with them, and I'm looking for other editors who are willing to collaborate on improving the article. Ideally we'd create a sufficiently good article to remove the advertisement banner on the top. If you've got the time, would you be interested in helping improve the page?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 23:01, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Shortride: I know it's been a while, but I proposed some additional changes to Assurant over on the talk page about a month ago, and I've been having trouble getting anyone to take a look at it. If you've got a minute, would you mind reviewing the updates I proposed? They're largely regarding the restructuring of Assurant after selling off some of their business units.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 18:28, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Shortride. I noticed that you've recently made a helpful edit to the MetLife article and see that you're generally interested in articles about companies and brands, so I wonder if you might be interested to help more on that page? There are some small requests that I've made there about updating existing material to improve the references, chronology and accuracy and I wanted to ask if you would have a few minutes to take a look. Information icon Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this: |image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]], instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do: |image=SomeImage.jpg. There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recetly added a thumbnail to an infobox. Speedy deletion nomination of Clipo

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Clipo, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://tgbsco.com/projects/clipo. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Information icon Hello, I'm Smjg. I noticed that you recently removed all content from Richmond County Daily Journal. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored.
