AJR

Hello, @Koopastar! I have a new draft for AJR's lead section and would like your comments or any further discussion whether we could help update the page. I am looking forward to your reply, thank you. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 23:45, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey 14.0.225.7! I've made some slight changes to the paragraph such as making it more grammatical and concise, but I believe that this new lead section is definitely an improvement over the old lead. Koopastar (talk) 00:11, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should we mention tours? or just leave it in career section? keep the lead short. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 00:18, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's better to leave it out of the lead, as the tours primarily supplement the albums. Even mega artists like Michael Jackson or Taylor Swift barely mention them. Koopastar (talk) 00:26, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the song i'm ready best charted in Australia (#5) not the u.s., is it appropriate to call it a mainstream success? per MOS:PUFFERY 14.0.225.7 (talk) 00:31, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say so since it still led to the notability of the EPs preceding Living Room, the album itself, and other singles such as "Let the Games Begin" that came before "Weak". Koopastar (talk) 00:50, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
we have to cite source to I'm ready's commercial success or the song's unique signficance/achievement to the band for notibilty/claims on wikipedia. the song has been more than a decade and they don't perform it anymore. should we just cite the chart as their first charted song? also thank you for your help. much appreciate. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 01:19, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the song's success could be elaborated on in the article since technically the lead shouldn't have any sources unless strictly necessary for summing something up Koopastar (talk) 01:28, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Based on all the sources from the career section and the song's wiki page, the song achievement to the band: 1) it's their first song charted in Australia 2) it's their first Platinum song 3) maybe a radio hit
Comparing to bang, it is weak to consider that i'm ready let them to mainstream success or to be known for the band by the public. any comments? thank you for participating with the draft. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 01:43, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it could count as such because AJR practically has multiple breakout hits for each stage of notability. Even though "Weak" was huge for them it could still be compared to "Bang!" as not as successful, or even potentially throwing "World's Smallest Violin" into the mix. "I'm Ready" came from a wiped history and that being the only single to their name, as well as what led to them signing to their first major label, so that point imo seems like a moment of mainstream success. Koopastar (talk) 01:59, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is also needed a reliable source (e.g. media coverage) to back up the claim "mainstream success", when it comes to the wikipedia, we would be likely challenged if it is vague. It must be bold when it comes to wikipedia, readers needs the full context. i don't think there's a source referenced the song as mainstream success (no grammys, no awards, no number-one). any solution to that statement and to avoid Fan's POV per WP:FAN? i hope we could finalize the best draft to update the ajr biography page between our discussion as soon as we can. also thank you for creating all the ajr song pages and your contributions to the community along the way. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 02:19, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it to the objective wording "became their breakout hit", which is supported by sources such as [1] and can be used in the article body. I think as-is that it'd be ready to transfer to the mainpage. Koopastar (talk) 02:54, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please go ahead and submit the draft for the community. i don't want to deal with or edit the article by myself anymore. thank you for improving the article together. 14.0.225.7 (talk) 02:58, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: DYK

I finished the review (and minor edits) for "You Liked This". I see you've got "White Noise" in the queue now as well. I'm looking for more QPQs so I'm happy to do it, but if you want a different reviewer, let me know and I'll stay away. Viriditas (talk) 22:34, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be cool with that, thanks for taking the time to review these. Koopastar (talk) 00:17, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, my pleasure. It's a privilege to edit anything related to Will Wood. FWIW, I've been looking into the antecedents of dark cabaret from an altogether different POV, that of modern art. While working on The Hangover (Suzanne Valadon), I was introduced to Aristide Bruant, a man who was a century ahead of his time. Some of his songs and lyrics are online. It's wild stuff. Viriditas (talk) 00:46, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed "White Noise", which is, btw, a great song. If you could add more hooks, that would be appreciated. Note, you don't have to do this and I can pass ALT0, but I'm hoping you can come up with a few others. Viriditas (talk) 21:46, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/El Camino Media.

The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
