Hi - start a new topic by clicking .

London Portal

Frankly, all hail for starting it - I jumped in (it should be said on a very irregular basis) because all the people who had hung around WPLondon found better lives (as I said to someone else, I hope it wasn't something I said). It'll have to be on 'as available basis' as sometimes, things turn up. I would hope that others can get involved, if only so I don't always end up choosing the articles and pix. It was a good thing you did and I'll try to keep the body warm for any time you want to jump back in. Good luck with your courses and I wish you all the best for your career. cheers Kbthompson (talk) 23:49, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Three Lions Userbox

Shame about the crest itself - sorry about that I forgot the "no copyright images can be put where noone will find them" thing. Are you sure about the size of the word "England" though ? 12px may be a bit big - how bout 10 ? Can I ask why some of the userboxes on your page are in the original code and not a transclusion? Is it an anti-vandal thing? I only ask because in the usual userbox-harvest I had to copy the code to my space and transclude them. The ones I took were the Copyright, American English and censorship.

Hi, Don't forget that if you move a page, like the basketball player, it's your responsibility to sort out the links which were pointing to him and which now point to the dab page. In this case it looks as if the vast majority are from one template, which I've fixed... it takes a while for a template edit to work through the system, so perhaps you could check the "what links here" for the dab page in a couple of days and mop up anything which still points there aimed at the basketball player. I also tidied up the dab page - added dates etc and {{hndis}}. And moved him to "(basketball)", which I think is in line with what it says at WP:NCP about keeping disambiguations short. Cheers, PamD (talk) 17:26, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of subpage/redirect

Hello there. Upon checking the redirects to a number of templates, I noticed User:Djr xi/London history. It appears to be the leftover of the move of the template from its sandbox in your userspace to the mainspace; as it holds no history, and there are no links leading to it, I thought that perhaps you wouldn't mind the page's deletion. I cannot have it speedy-deleted, but you can, if you want, using criterion G7. If you'd rather avoid the fuss, I suppose I could do it for you and point to this section, provided you give your consent. (I'm not sure that would work, but I don't see why not.)

Just for the sake of tidying up the place a bit... :-) Waltham, The Duke of 01:01, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking care of this. (In case you are interested, I was compiling this. It's almost complete; I had actually finished it, but as my luck would have it, my browser crashed before I could save.) Waltham, The Duke of 16:02, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox School background color

I saw your comment regarding background color on the talk page for Template:Infobox School. Please take a moment to review the earlier discussion which had resulted in the removal of this functionality on the same talk page.

This discussion, of course, does not finalize the issue. I encourage you to re-open the discussion if you feel strongly about it, but I suggest that you request the addition of BOTH a way to edit the background color AND text color. You may also want to include some of the folks from the original discussion. When you're ready to formally propose some changes, be sure to add the {{editprotected}} tag to your post. It's the only way the administrators will know you are seriously proposing the changes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply on my talk page!

On the List of Scholarly Journals in Economics

This is in resopnse to the message you left for me on my talk page (it is also posted there). I believe I have not contributed to this page since 2005. If it is basically a duplicate of the category page, I do not object to its removal. If it is to stay, to make it more useful, perhaps the page could be subdivided by sub-field area, and also noting the "core" or most important journals. -- Ithacagorges, 05:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"This user supports the independence of England (from Scotland, Wales and N.I.)"

independence of england

A country can't be independent of its colonies, it's the other way round. You're not going to tell me India ruled England are you? :) --MacRusgail (talk) 21:12, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of course Scotland, Wales and Ireland aren't colonies. That's why they have equal parity with England, take turns at having the UK capital, and their languages all have equal rights within the UK. Get real. Ireland and Wales were conquered, Scotland was annexed and bought out. Rome cannot be independent of its Empire! --MacRusgail (talk) 18:08, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My point is that England doesn't become independent of its colonies, they become independent of her. Any other notion is frankly arse backwards and confused. England is in charge, and always has been - that's why.
Of course there is one capital, it's called London, and that's why England rules us and not vice versa. London is a problem to the rest of England, let alone anywhere else anyway.--MacRusgail (talk) 11:21, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crossrail sucks

To the people that say I'm directing my protest at the wrong places....

I contacted crossrail, southeastern trains, tfl, crossrail, downing street and the developers about it with my valid grievances... namely there are now no longer any music venues of that size in london that I can get back from at night due to kent having a very bad train timetable so AT LEAST 75% of gigs now mean I have to get a hotel too - at the price of £50 a time... which i can't afford to do at the moment as due to illness im now the only earner in the household. kent also has bad links to the rest of the country and london is the only city i can get to for gigs - if you live in say milton keynes you can go to several shows on the toue. there is also the fact that the music scene is declining - hammersmith palais has gone, astoria has gone, astoria 2 has gone, electric ballroom soon to go.... the music scene is dying. Astoria was historic but if they replace it I don't care... I care about both affording to go to gigs, and the music scene dying.

Only crossrail bothered to reply to my letters, which were written without moaning, and all they did was link me to an online transcript of a meeting about astoria being demolished. no responding to my grievances from them or any other party.... so i am resorting to extreme measures.... which I am sorry for... but they are needed. In these hard times if people don't care about people being forced to waste their own money, or about the culture and music scene of the country declining then hard times call for a hard response.

Also.... as I said... I can easily reconnect to the net if I am banned or use one of my 4 or 5 users on here.... its not that hard... and to the people that keep messaging me asking which article I'm reffering to - the fact I keep talking about crossrail should be a hint.... and yes I know I'm sarcastic but so? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.252.17 (talk • contribs) 16:02, 31 July 2009

Orphaned non-free media (File:Wembley logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Wembley logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:50, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Mangalore fishing.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Mangalore fishing.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:11, 17 March 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 14:11, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 22:45, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Official Charts Company requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mister sparky (talk) 21:18, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 08:56, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tell us about your experiences editing the English Wikipedia!

Hi Djr_xi!

I am conducting an interview study about how Wikipedia editors collaborate in the English edition of Wikipedia. The project description is on the WMF meta wiki: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Characterizing_Collaboration_Models_in_the_EN,_FR_and_ES_Language_Editions_of_Wikipedia.

This research study is part of a larger project where we are trying to understand how editors collaborate in different language editions of Wikipedia. I was looking through our team’s prior dataset and came across conversations that you have had on the The Judd School article talk page. I am interested in learning more about those conversations.

Would you be willing to participate in a 1 hour interview about your experience? The interview will take place virtually over Skype, Hangout, Zoom or phone.

Our research team will make our best efforts to keep your participation confidential. Participation in our study is voluntary. If you are willing to participate in this interview, or if you have additional questions please email me. Or, if you are concerned about direct email you can contact me through Wikipedia’s mail feature.

If you are interested or have any other questions, please let us know.
