A tag has been placed on Deez Nuts (video) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. -- Black Falcon (talk) 14:33, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia 1.0 project

Hi Democratics! Thanks for signing up for the Wikipedia 1.0 project. The project has been dormant for several years - other than the bot which manages the assessment data for WikiProjects. This was because we lost our lead programmer and didn't get anyone to take his place. However, we have a new group of people now involved, and they have begun work on preparing a new selection. They're doing a demo at the WikiConference in San Diego later this week, and if all goes well we should be able to produce some new selections and we'll need people to help. So I may be in touch with you again. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 00:52, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm giving the new project a tentative name of "School Selection". We seem now to have working software! This takes a seed list of WikiProjects (tailored for use in elementary schools, for example) then looks at links in their top-ranked articles, then ranks those until a selection has been created at the 1 GB, 3 GB or 10 GB level. We'll be putting these selections onto laptops going into schools in Latin America and Haiti to begin with, though it will be available on Kiwix for general download. We'll need people to check that the selections are well-balanced (and perhaps age-appropriate). Is this something that would interest you? Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 04:07, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:50, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting at AfD

Hi Democratics, I noticed you have been relisting things at AfD, which is fine, but can you please make sure you move the transclusion from the old date to the new one as instructed in WP:RELIST. For example Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ElDewrito is currently transcluded in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2016 October 13; it should be moved to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2016 October 21. Thanks. Sarahj2107 (talk) 10:07, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sarahj2107, my mistakes, ah I have so many. I have installed the User:Mr.Z-man/closeAFD script for more efficient AFD actions so these things won't happen again (I assure you). Thanks for understanding. Your welcome | Democratics Talk 10:24, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The closeAFD script is really helpful, I use it for all relisting and closes. I have moved all your relists from today but I havn't done any previous ones. Sarahj2107 (talk) 10:29, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, one question, how do I do that (the previous ones)?.Your welcome | Democratics Talk 11:05, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You go to the log for where it is currently listed and comment out the transclusion like this, then you copy the transclusion on the log for the day it should be relisted on like this. So for the ones you did on 17th, they should be commented out on the log they were in and added to the log for the 17th. You need to do this manually as the script will add them to todays log. Also, AfDs are normally not relisted a third time except in some special cases, and they are never relisted more than three times. Sarahj2107 (talk) 12:17, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As a friendly message I provide to you this cookie. Perhaps an ensaymada would be a more culturally appropriate sweet, but they don't have a template for that. Hope this continues to fuel your Wikipedia editing. RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 19:02, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been reviewed by Sjrct for NPOV, copyright, etc. The discussion has ended. Time for you to remove the banner!BurrME64 (talk) 23:50, 1 November 2016 (UTC)BurrME64[reply]

Hi. I'm a bit confused as to why this article was relisted in AfD. It seems to me that the consensus was very clear that the article should be deleted. There was only one valid Keep vote from the person who created the article, plus two fake keep votes created by the same person that were revoked. Ten or so are in favour of deletion, only one in favour of keeping it. Much of the content is also duplicated at IsAnybodyDown? which recently went through AfD with a strong Keep. Can you reconsider the relisting of the AfD and move it in the direction of the apparent consensus? Thanks. Shritwod (talk) 11:50, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Shritwod: As said in the template above, "consensus (agreement) is gauged based on the merits of the arguments, not by counting votes." I believe the discussion is yet to be considered as concluded, though I do find AManInWikipedia's edits disturbing (it needs serious attention even though he was blocked for 31 hours). Lastly, I'm not an admin and therefore am not that confident in my actions. I suggest asking admin attention as one can better judge due to his/her greater experience. Hope you understand.Your welcome | Democratics Talk 12:16, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you would care to enter the conversation, then we might actually know what your concerns are and address them. As it is, the "keep" argument is based largely in a "Wikipedia should change the rules" and "it's all paid editors against me" stance from the SPA article creator, amid his forged Keep !votes and false allegations of canvassing. The relisting is befuddling. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you relist the Israel World Cup articles?

Why did you relist Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel at the 2014 FIFA World Cup (2nd nomination)? There were about 8 delete votes and one keep vote, from the page creator. The only issue is whether the redirect should be deleted or discussed at RfD, and that's a procedural issue. Smartyllama (talk) 19:24, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree with Smartyllama; even though AfD is not based on counting the !votes, the one Keep !vote was not based on existing policy, guidelines, and consensus. Please consider undoing your relisting. — Jkudlick • t • c • s 23:40, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I read above in an above section that you're often not comfortable choosing consensus because you're not an admin. If that's the case, then please consider undoing your relisting as Jkudlick suggested and letting an admin decide whether to close it or not. The solution if you're not comfortable closing AfD's is not to relist everything. Smartyllama (talk) 23:59, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would do Jkudlick's suggestion and remove my relisting but I am still open for investigation about my relisting at the AFD as he had said in a comment in the discussion.Your welcome | Democratics Talk 11:01, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like you never undid the move of the transclusion from the old date to the new one, so admins won't know to find this on the old date. Please undo that as well. Thanks. Smartyllama (talk) 20:16, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Have I screwed up something again, do me a favor by fixing it in your will.Your welcome | Democratics Talk 09:52, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Democratics,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Democratics,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Tony Boy Espinosa should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tony Boy Espinosa .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:37, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Hello there. This is an invitation to join the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge Focus of the Week. £250 (c. $310) up for grabs in May, June and July with £20 worth of prizes to give away every week for most articles destubbed. Each week there is a different region of focus, though half the prize will still be rewarded for articles on any subject. Articles may be submitted for this as well as the regional Challenge you usually contribute to at the same time. Sign up if you want to contribute at least one of the weeks or support the idea! † Encyclopædius 19:36, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article North Korea in the Korean War has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superfluous, redundant. The info in this article can be found at North Korea and Korean War, etc.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
