Citing yourself
Hi Catch20two! I am writing to you about a potential conflict of interest in citing yourself. The applicable policies are WP:SELFCITE and WP:SELFPUB. I mention the latter because Clint Eastwood: A Life on Both Sides of the Camera appears to be independently published. That policy specifically states Never use self-published sources as third-party sources about living people, even if the author is an expert, well-known professional researcher, or writer.
Because of this, I would wait for Clint Eastwood's death before attempting to use your book as a citation so it will not violate our WP:blp policy.
However you engage with Wikipedia, you definitely should avoid WP:CITESPAM. Peaceray (talk) 21:04, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. The book is well researched offering hundreds of footnotes to sources so the policy shouldn't be violated this way. Catch20two (talk) 08:19, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
