Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of areas of London, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Middle Park. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Foots Cray

It might be the case that the material you added to Foots Cray was a useful addition to the article. I didn't check to see if it was. My main reason for undoing your edit is that when copying material within Wikipedia it must be done in a particular way to properly credit all contributors.

Please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia for the proper way to copy material within Wikipedia.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:27, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Popils

I saw your edits to the Popils page where you talk about the Second Game. However, there's one thing you do not mention and I wondered if you'd seen it or missed it. It's what happens after the alternative ending. Let me know if you want to know, I won't spoil it for now. Mattsephton (talk) 15:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled right

Hi Carlwev, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! œ 07:54, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. A tag has been placed on File:Bromley Borough Ward Map.GIF requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The file File:Gloss5.PNG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Goody - Protagonist

Hi Carlwev, I can only speak for myself, but the reason that I previously removed hero and protagonist from the Goody DAB page is because the terms goody and goodie do not appear anywhere in these articles (WP:DABRELATED), so readers following those links in hopes of finding out more about the term, would be disappointed. External links are not used because DAB pages are supposed to direct readers to existing content (WP:DABREF). Leschnei (talk) 14:02, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this up, I can understand your point. But I don't think it's necessary for all terms coming in from disambiguation pages and/or redirects to be mentioned at the target page. Many topics could have a large number or alternative terms/words referring to them that also link from disambiguation pages, I'm not sure it is necessary to list all of them at the main article. As a child I understood the concept of a "goody" in a story but I was completely unfamiliar with the word "protagonist" which is the closest meaning. My thoughts were if a child or perhaps also a person who does not speak English as a first language wishes to look for the topic "protagonist" they may not know which term to use to search. I cannot see any harm in listing protagonist on the goody disambiguation page, I thought it was the main point of disambiguation pages. BTW Some time in the past a user said something along the lines of, they were not familiar with the word goody used to mean "protagonist" and doubted it had this meaning. I added the reference to the OED to show it was used in this way, although I thought may have been a bit unnecessary for a disambiguation, but it showed it was correct, if anyone doubted it. Also for example, compare to.
  1. On the Goody disambiguation page it also lists Confectionary and Candy as possible meanings, those articles also have no mention of the word goody/goodies.
  2. Baddie - The disambiguation page lists "villian and "antagonist" as a possible meanings. But those articles do not mention the word "baddie" (BTW I added antagonist to this disambiguation page, but villain was added by someone else). It also lists badminton as a meaning, but that article doesn't mention Baddie either.
  3. I was trying to think of other slang/informal words children or non-native English speaking users may use before they know the "formal" word. Boob and tit are disambiguation pages that list breast, but that article does not mention those slang/informal words words either. In fact Boob page mentions breast as the main meaning, but still the page on breast does not mention boob.
  4. Also, you me or someone else could simply add the term "goody" to the protagonist page, with the OED reference. I may do this in the future. I read the links to disambiguation page usage you posted above, it would make sense.  Carlwev  11:31, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite of A2212 road

Hello Carl, how are you? I was wondering if together you wanted to do a rewrite of the A2212 road article? If not, then that is fine - just wondering. Roads4117 (talk) 09:36, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your interest. In theory, yes, I would like the idea of rewriting the article on A2212 road. I have never collaborated with another Wikipedian on an article, but I would be open to the idea. My editing patterns are a bit sporadic, I have been very busy outside Wikipedia lately with work and family things, I go from not editing for weeks, to spending a whole day researching and editing depending on when my free time is, it may be a while til I get free time, so if you can put up with that. When I make an article, my preferred way to write an article afresh on a less known topic, is as a draft in my own username space, and cut and paste it into the main space as a full bodied article, in the hope that if a user comes across a larger and sourced article, rather than a work in progress, they would be more impressed, and less likely look to delete it. Whether that happens that way? I also tend to write the lead last, when the other sections are complete, and summarise the main points of the other sections, but that's just me. I am conscious about the copyright issue that came up with another road recently, I would want to try and avoid that. I tend to usually work on one article at a time, my current one is Grove Park Nature Reserve, under construction in my username space, which coincidently is on the A2212 road. [[1]]
 Carlwev  20:13, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Carlwev OK then, I am happy with that. Should I create a shared userpage for us - we could communicate and correspond with each other on the user talk page, and write it up on the user page, but only a suggestion - I am still happy to do it your way. Thank you Roads4117 (talk) 20:20, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also see that there are very few roads at this link here [2], so if you want, maybe we could also add some of them, maybe for like Bromley Town centre, or Sundridge Park, but if you don't then no worries - just a suggestion. Also, just reply here (not on my talk page) as I will be watching your talk page for. Thanks, Roads4117 (talk) 11:04, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
