Okay. I'm afraid I don't understand the issue. In both cases, my edit summaries indicated that I made the changes so that the articles would use the subject's last name – as required per MOS:SURNAME. Neither Šmahel nor Oaidă has patronymics. Robby.is.on (talk) 13:49, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The whole infobox on this cricketer is sourced to a specific entry on CricketArchive, where there is a "full name" as part of the entry. All cricket infoboxes should have a direct reference to either CricketArchive.com or espncricinfo.com, which carry similar information. Hello. Since we had a little discussion about whether to state the nationality of Thomas Strakosha as Albanian or leave it out in the short description, I was wondering about the reason you provided for leaving it out:

• You know that being born in a country doesn't always mean being a citizen of that country, right? Do you distinguish between the two?

• Also, why doesn't the rule currently apply to players like Pepe, Higuaín or Rakitić, as they were born in another country (and possess their citizenship as well)?

To be perfectly honest, I don't recall the exact reasoning for the convention I've been referring to. Others at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football surely would be better able to explain it in detail.
