I'm a Wikipedian from Germany who is basically active in all articles relating to entertainment, sports and video games, but if I see something that could be worked on, I see what I can do. I happen to hold Master degrees in English, German, history, and philosophy, but interestingly enough do not edit in any of these topics, most likely because they are my real-life job. I am doing a PhD on gender in pro wrestling, so at least one of my research interests correlates with my work here. However, I largely consider myself retired.
99% of what I‘m doing here is considered WP:GNOMING. Aside from time constraints, this is mostly because I think that Wikipedia as an institution has strayed so far from its original purpose that it cannot be used as a source of information in certain areas.
A lot of topics where I hold expertise and that desperately need work, especially articles on gender and identity politics, are hogged by (woke) activists, who make it impossible to work on them. Wikipedia has completely caved in to their ideology and everybody who tries to make these articles less biased is harassed, threatened, and blocked into submission, which I consider the biggest issue on Wikipedia today.
Another huge issue that keeps me from doing more is that Wikipedia has developed a toxic caste of admins and other users with special functions that blatantly abuse and twist Wikipedia‘s rules to feed their inflated ego and play researcher.
Articles that others considered (somewhat) good work
