Template:Stnlnk
{}
Usage
This template expands a name (first parameter) to link to the appropriate railway station article, without displaying "railway station".
Optionally a second parameter can be supplied to distinguish between identically named stations in different locations. (With respect to the UK, this is typically the county level administrative division.)
A third parameter can be used to change the displayed station name.
The template can be abbreviated as rws (for railway station).
For example:
Wolverhampton
expands to Wolverhampton
and thus Wolverhampton;
Bramley
expands to Bramley
;
Ashford International
expands to Ashford Intl
.
- Note:
This template will correctly handle all the standard forms of station name disambiguation:
- Xxx railway station (Location)
- Xxx (Location) railway station
- Xxx railway station, Location
- Xxx station (Location)
- Xxx (System station)
- Xxx (System)
Discretion should be used on whether to name the place itself or the station that serves it. In railway articles it is generally preferred to use the station unless specifically talking about the place, for example that Peterborough serves the city of Peterborough.
Almost all British stations follow the link form of terminating with "railway station".
