Edward O'Grady
- ... that in 1972 Irish horse trainer Edward O'Grady was arrested for his part in pulling off a betting coup on Gay Future at Cartmel?
Created/expanded by Finnegas (talk), SarahStierch (talk). Nominated by Finnegas (talk) at 20:13, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
- BLP problems with the article and hook, they imply his guilt despite charges against him having been dropped. I would consider any hook based around this incident to fail WP:DYK criteria 4 in that it focuses unduly on a negative aspect of a living individual. January (talk) 10:00, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Alt hook ... that in 1979 Irish horse trainer Edward O'Grady became only the fifth individual to train the winner of the Galway Plate and the Galway Hurdle in the same year?
Would that hook work Finnegas (talk) 15:50, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- I think that would work, although I'm still concerned that there's too much detail in the article on a crime for which he was not convicted. (Perhaps some of it could be added to Gay Future instead?)
- Elsewhere, I think the sentence "O'Grady's move to training flat horses proved to be disastrous and he was forced to return to training National Hunt" lacks detail and context, eg was it poor results or did something specific go wrong, and was he literally forced to return to National Hunt? (It's a one-sentence section which is generally not recommended per WP:LAYOUT).
- Have removed "O'Grady's move to training flat horses proved to be disastrous and he was forced to return to training National Hunt" until I find a source. On the issue of Gay Future the information in the article is also in Gay Future.Finnegas (talk) 09:20, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- AGF on offline source for hook. I've trimmed the Gay Future section and added "Irish horse trainer" to the Alt hook. January (talk) 14:33, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
