Ethnicity

@Cfls: As explained in the edit summaries, the MOS is clear that ethnicity indicated by things like place of birth should not be in the opening paragraph. I also think adding the Chinese version of the author's name which they don't use professionally is an extension of that. Additionally, Sohu is aggregator which should be used with caution per discussion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources (2008 & 2021). Sariel Xilo (talk) 00:31, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note: asked a question on MOS policy over at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography#Native names for clarification. Sariel Xilo (talk) 19:53, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cfls and Alexander 8620: In addition to the concerns I raised above about MOS:ETHNICITY, I took another look at MOS:BIOALTNAME and it states: "Excessive non-English language details can make the lead sentence difficult to understand" (see also their Genghis Khan example). I think the compromise position of including it in the early life section and the infobox module should work for everyone. Sariel Xilo (talk) 20:00, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
