Talk:Michael Huffington

Sexuality

"Once a staunch Republican, Huffington "came out of the closet" as a bisexual in 1998."

This sentence makes unnecessary insinuations, ones that also have the potential of being unclear to an individual unfamiliar with the American political scene. I believe it should be modified. Ground 20:09, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Greek Orthodox issue

This "Michael Huffington has donated substantile amounts to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Ecumenical Patriarchate. However one thing he definately doesn't want going public is his attachment to Gerontas Dionysios, a monk who was ousted from Holy Mount Athos and whom has founded a number of uncanonical monasteries. He has also been giving financial aid to support the ex-Patriarch of Jerusalem, something which he specifically asked not come to light for the Ecumenical Patriarch with whom he might "loose sway". During his stay at the monasteries of Gerontas Dionysios he was given long periods of alone time with a monk to get a massage. Very loving indeed, yet uncanonical and highly suspect given Michael Huffington's bisexuality" is totally biased, no references, no citations, etc. WTF? I. The Elder, Archimandrite Dionysios, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Petra of the Sacred Diocese of Thessaliotis & Phanariophersala of the Most Holy Church of Greece, was called in 1990, when he was a Monk and Father Confessor of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petras of the Holy Mountain of Athos, by Letter No. 665/28.07.1990 of the then Patriarch of Jerusalem Diodoros to his Abbot, Archimandrite Aemilianos, and was sent by him in response, through Letter No. 293/12.10.90, to the Holy Land. He labored there assiduously and outstandingly as Abbot of the Sacred Royal Monastery of the Holy Cross, Jerusalem, and Headmaster–Father Confessor of the Patriarchate. In continuation Archimandrite Dionysios founded or re-established the Holy Monasteries: 1. Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Thebes, 2. Petra, 3. Saint George and 4. Red Church, Karditsa, in Greece, by decrees of the Holy Synod and the President of Greece, which are cited in the official Diptychs of the Church of Greece, with a large group of monks and nuns from 20 different countries around the world; 5. St. Anthony the Great and 6. Nativity of the Theotokos, Mexico, of the Patriarchate of Antioch, as requested by Metropolitan Anthony of Mexico, sending the brother- and sisterhoods there under his spiritual son, Archimandrite Serapheim, as Abbot, through Document No. 1834/08.05.2006 of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. Again requested to do so, in 2004 the Elder Dionysios sent two monastic companies to the Jerusalem Patriarchate of ancient renown. He enjoys every honor from the Ecumenical Patriarch and the rest of the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches, as an abundance of written documents testify.

II. Mr. Michael Huffington is a great benefactor of the Sacred Monastery of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Thebes – with the knowledge of the Ecumenical Patriarch – wherein are the tombs of his father-in-law, Constantinos Stassinopoulos, and of the Elder Dionysios’ sister, Maria of blessed memory. Upon a doctor’s recommendation, during Mr. Huffington’s visit in 2005 when he was suffering from back problems, the aid of a lay physical therapist was offered him, feeding the evil suspicions of the prevaricating commentator, who of his own accord calls himself “pseummata”, literally “lies” (in Greek), and writes in the “discussion” from the superfluity of his heart: “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34, Mark 7:21-22), rendering himself liable to give account.
