"August 1977: Oracle founded as Software Development Laboratories (SDL) by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates "
This contradicts the following claim on this page
"Ritabrata Bhattacharyya (Chemical Engineering) - Founder and Vice-President, Oracle "
This user used a few diligent search engines namely Google.com and Yahoo.com to coroborate the above claim, which were later found baseless.

Hindi Name Spelling Changed
The Hindi name of Jadavpur University (bn: যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) should be "यादवपुर विश्वविद्यालय" as per the practise and this also is supported by the Hindi name visible in the university logo. So जादवपुर is replaced by यादवपुर. --অরিত্র মুখার্জী, কলকাতা (Aritra Mukherjee, Kolkata) 10:01, 7 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiAritra (talk • contribs)
Propaganda
This page has been subject to vandalism before, notably by editing alumni lists, presumably as pranks.
The latest improper use of the page is propaganda. Continued usage of such kind can lead to blocking of IP and banning of username.

Authoress?
While authoress might be lexically correct as designating a female author, but it is generally considered impolite and politically incorrect usage nowadays. I have replaced authoress with author in context of Nabaneeta Dev Sen (and not Navaneeta, as originally given). Please comment. Priyatu 04:22, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Wrong Info
Is jadavpur university just 34 acres in area as stated in the profile? i dont think so. please check. actually it has two campusses of 58 acres and 26 acres making it an 84 acre campus. i edited accordingly.
Cleanup and additions
Hello, I've tried to clean up some infelicities in the original article and add information that isn't available on the official website. Some references would be a good idea. Does anyone have the history of the NCE? I think that's the missing text by Haridas Mukherjee. Will try and track it down on Monday. Rimi 20:03, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
deleted non notable A7
Deleted Ayan Roy Chowdhury from distinguished alumni. This person is a graduate student at the University of Maryland College Park, is not yet a Ph.D. and has been publishing since 2003. Probably too early for him to be on this list. He gets 21 hits in Google Scholar (a very unreliable resource, though, I have to admit) but most of these are trivial. Talk to me if I'm wrong. Information overdose
I am removing these huuge, clunky lists of schools, departments and student clubs which make the article difficult to read. Also trying to NPOV the article. Whoever added these probably did it with good intentions, but the article is in a proper mess right now. ray 15:39, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Done. I have kept the factual additions, though. I will go through the history of the article to check if other facts were deleted, and incorporate them. And check on reverse links for possible updates to the article. The alum list probably needs some edits. We probably need one more photograph - for student activities / Sanskriti. And do any photos exist of ISIJU ? ray 18:08, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
What about T.C. Sinha?
Shouldn't the connection between his institute and Jadavpur University be mentioned?

Added content: Jadavpur University Press
According to the news report of Times Of India <http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kolkata-/JU-to-launch-publication-house/articleshow/6811889.cms> this section has been added to the main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiAritra (talk • contribs) 15:58, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's borderline WP:CRYSTAL, as such things may take years, and many times fall before completion. But I removed the speculation (where does it say "very soon"?) and added dates so I think it's valid to mentions the plans.--Muhandes (talk) 23:16, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Placement
this section has been modified according to the university placement page. Statements without citations are removed (e.g. "placement is one of the best after IITs", JU placement is good but we don't have any rankings based on placements among the universities from any reliable source) — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiAritra (talk • contribs) 20:54, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Importance
Are the molestation case and sanitary protest that much important and notable to deserve even a separate paragraph? There are already a lot of controversies which circle around JU each month. So what makes these two incidents so special to deserve even a separate paragraph? Arka 92 07:34, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Google search shows incorrect information
The google search of Jadavpur University shows a wiki blurb with incorrect (and demeaning) information about the Vice Chancellor but on clicking the link, it takes us to the page which has correct information. How do we correct it? Arjun358 (talk) 01:38, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

- You haven't said what you think is wrong with the coordinates in the article, but I've adjusted them a bit to indicate a spot more in the center of the university. If you still think that there is an error, you'll need to supply a clear explanation of what it is. Deor (talk) 22:20, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
