IED
The explanation of what IED stands for needs to be at the start of the article.

- Thanks. I spelled it out at the first mention of "IED" and likified it to the explanation.

- Looks good.

Aerostat
Looking good so far. I made a couple corrections/modifications/additions to the Aerostat portion and will spend more time on this tomorrow after I reference classification of some things I'd like to add.Mcgyver2k (talk) 21:41, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
By the way, I would recommend swapping that photo of the JLENS (Radar) Aerostat out with one that we actually use for C-IED. The JLENS is not used in combat theaters (yet) and doesn't provide any EO/IR (Optical) capabilities. It's also not an "Air Force" Aerostat as they like to profess, they are simply one of the organizations that utilized it but they've never built or "owned" an Aerostat. I have a very good picture for you if you'd be interested in swapping it?Mcgyver2k (talk) 04:39, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Swapping for your picture would great! dbabbitt (talk) 16:38, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Photo of the THOR III antenna install
Not sure that the photo used is the best representation as it shows the Marine installing the antenna backwards. If you notice the bottom elements of the antenna they are only on one side of the assembly. This side is supposed to face forward and this is not going to happen unless the person is walking backwards or wearing the THOR on his chest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcgyver2k (talk • contribs) 11:03, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Mcgyver2k, I noticed that but didn't want to create another public domain photo on Wikimedia.org about the same thing. Can you put some more aerostat photos in the public domain? I would like to see some photo NOT from the US up there. --dbabbitt (talk) 19:47, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
- I put up another public domain photo after all. dbabbitt (talk) 16:40, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Article Size
The article, which didn't exist not too long ago, now is within splitting range. A page of about 30 kB to 50 kB of readable prose, which roughly corresponds to 6,000 to 10,000 words, takes between 30 and 40 minutes to read at average speed, which is right on the limit of the average concentration span of 40 to 50 minutes.[1] At 50 kB and above it may benefit the reader for us to consider moving some sections to other articles and replace them with summaries per Wikipedia:Summary style - see WP:SIZERULE for "a rule of thumb". Comprehension of standard texts at average reading speed is around 65%. We can take our time, but we need to determine whether the topic should be treated as several shorter articles and, if so, how best to organize them.
I fully concur but with caveat. If we split it but also change the paragraphs on some topics to summaries it will improve the page and keep it more in line with a quick reference.voiceofreason 06:19, 3 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcgyver2k (talk • contribs)

Changing other peoples format
I notice that someone decided to 'help' me by changing the placement of photos with my text. What this did was cause the photo to be below instead of next to the description. I think it makes more sense and appears cleaner/more professional to have the photo right next to the text but maybe that's just a personal preference. Anyway, if you don't like the format, let me know and we'll put it to vote. I put it back the way it was. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcgyver2k (talk • contribs) 06:24, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Photos not corresponding to captions
The photos are merely random MWD photos and are not specific examples of what the captions portray. --dbabbitt (talk) 11:31, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
Way Too Many Capital Letters
I get that militaries like to talk like this, so some capitalized terms are probably fine, but many aren't. Too many for me to fix. You do it! InedibleHulk (talk) 00:18, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Merge proposal
Merge IED Countermeasure Equipment into Counter-IED efforts. The destination article already covers the topic with better context. Longhornsg (talk) 05:58, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- A merge is very reasonable, but I suggest a merge of IED Countermeasure Equipment to a more specific article: Counter-IED equipment. Klbrain (talk) 12:29, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
