English name
Shouldn't the translation for Barisan Nasional be National Lineup rather than National Front --60.50.91.180 (talk) 13:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Proposal to rename Article as Barisan Nasional
The term 'National Front' is never used in Malaysia. As a British citizen (and wikipedian since 2002) who mainly communicates in English, and who has lived in Malaysia for 5+ years, the term confused me when I read it on Wikipedia. In both Malay and English literature, it's always referred to as 'BN' or Barisan Nasional. For example, see today's British Language newspaper, the New Straits Times: http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/NajibcongratulatesSarawakBN/election/Sarawak/article?section=Topnews So, should the article be named with a term unrecognisable to almost everybody? Or renamed as Barisan Nasional? WillSmith (London) (talk) 13:41, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- The term 'National Front' is an anachronism that fell out of common use between the late 80s and the early 90s. It has only seen usage by the foreign English language media. That is why it is unfamiliar to many people. I would support a reversion to 'Barisan Nasional' since this is the term that is used almost exclusively nowadays in the local media. - Bob K | Talk 17:16, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- I have to agree with this. Usually wikipedia uses English names for article titles, but in this case even the western media uses "Barisan Nasional" (eg The Economist). So per WP:COMMONNAME, Barisan Nasional should be the article title. Unless anyone objects I'm happy to move it back or ask an admin to do it. --Mkativerata (talk) 20:57, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
More info
Can we get more info on the nature of this party...? Is it right/ left/ center? Who controls it? Is it heavy with religious or economic interests?
- Barisan Nasional a coalition of mainly ethnic based parties, has formed the government of Malaysia since it was formed in 1974. See http://www.bn.org.my/. -- sabre23t 09:59, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Barisan Nasional as a whole is actually a Conservative party. --60.50.91.180 (talk) 13:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Barisan Nasional
I'm moving this back to Barisan Nasional, the proper name of the party, that's used in Malay and English. The literal translation of the name is national front, though. -- sabre23t 09:59, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
NPOV
This artical is not NPOV and not encylopedic enough. It seem absurd to talk about an incident about "loyalty issue in a political party" in an encyclopedia entry. What i suggest is,
- discuss the role of this political party in its nation, with an sosiological, or historis view.
- discuss the policy, implement by this political party.
- Its ideology.

Fair use rationale for Image:Bn logo.gif
Image:Bn logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:22, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

BARISAN NASIONAL IS A USELESS PARTI OF MALAYSIA, THEY ONLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE MALAYSIAS PEOPLE MONEY !
To the writer (s) of this statement, please take back your statement because the site you are writing or improving in are only for encyclopedic contents and with no political motive just like what have you wrote.

- If you have the time to post a warning in the Talk page, I'm sure you'll find the time to remove the offensive statement yourself. Wikipedia isn't Malaysia. They have a way of when a state selects the opposition, they do not give out funds for the state.
That was hilarious. Unsourced, removed. Feel free to get a reliable citation and reinsert.

Vandalism in the Article
Someone changed the ideologies to "Kleptocracy, Corruption, and Cronyism". This is obviously not supposed to be this way, but I don't know what to restore it to. If someone could quickly restore the ideologies to their correct state that would be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArserWI (talk • contribs) 14:20, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- I reversed it myself, but someone knowledgeable should check it for any mistakes. ArserWI (talk) 14:43, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
Contested seats
The section on contested seats is completely unnecessary and unsourced. With no source it is unreliable. Even with source, it is superfluous to the article, it is just random indiscriminate dump of information and therefore unencyclopedic. It is moreover ugly with the big blocks of colours and clogs up the article. You don't see it in any other articles on political parties in other countries. It should be deleted. Hzh (talk) 22:08, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- I agree.--Mkativerata (talk) 22:13, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- I should say that it should also apply to the other two Malaysian articles as well. The one in Gagasan Sejahtera in particular is spectacularly hideous. Hzh (talk) 22:23, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
