The information included and listed as from the Pastoral Bible Institute is not entirely accurate. As a Bible Student, historian and Bible Scholar I shall be making some appropriate changes/additions in the coming days. [[User:Pastorrussell|Pastorrussell]] 00:20, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Revision as of 00:20, 5 December 2006

My goal in creating this page :

  • Document the hsitory of the early JWs, and who split and joined (there's some interesting stuff in nazi germany, when the iron curtain fell, etc.)
  • Have a place to move some of the material from the Charles Taze Russell article.
  • Replace / complement the Jehovah's Witnesses splinter groups article that didn't turn out as well as I expected.
  • complement the Bible Students article - I think focusing on the movement rather than on the bible students is easier and more constructive, since we don't have to worry about who really is and isn't a Bible Student. I feel the Bible Students article is mostly about the Associated Bible Students (not the Free Bible Students).

It still needs quite a bit of work ...

Copied stuff from Splinter Groups page

I haven't reworked things that much, but recategorizing things already allowed me to notice that one group was mentioned twice.

I think this organization (the main groups and their history) is better than the purely chronological approach of the other page. Flammifer 14:20, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Only Russell ?

I wonder, was Russell the *only* "founder" of the movement ? I'm not sure he was, I'd have to re-check some history. Seems the early Bible Student movement had a few major figures, Russell was just the biggest, but by no means the only initator.

(On a related line, we could probably do with a list of major figures in the (early) movement) Flammifer 04:45, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Enrichment

Hello Flammifer, The article is very good and rich in information. I have translated the previous edition into Greek and I added it to the Greek Wikipedia. However after I did so, I realized that it talks about the Bible Students, but not about their beliefs. I think that this way it's somehow incomplete. So I added a passage about their beliefs using their own words (they surely know better than me to describe their faith). I have cited the link so that anyone can visit the page and learn more. I have also added the phrase "with premillennialist expectations" in the intro to make it more accurate. I hope you like it this way. In any case I'd like to hear your opinion. @Agapornis, what is the source of these additions? The reader should be able to check their validity. Please make the adequate references. -- pvasiliadis  16:59, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
