Hi Alkivar, thanks for your message regarding Genesis'88, and I appreciate your corrections. However, no wikipedia pages truly have a single author (see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles), so I must reject your implicit assumption that only Wayne or other who were present should edit that page. Many, if not most, pages on wikipedia were created by individuals who were not present at those events, and indeed having distance from events can help avoid a tendency towards creating articles that don't conform to the policy of neutral point of view. |

Of course, I'm happy to be corrected on certain factual issues, the issue of MDMA vs. ectasy, for example, but applying NPOV and various style fixes in accordance with the Wikipedia:Manual of Style and other copyedits aren't the sole province of the initial contributor. If there are problems, that's what the talk page is for, we should discuss the issues there, as I said, I'm happy to be corrected on factual issues, but nobody has a monopoly on the page format/layout/scope or content of any particular article. Some issues: |
*Currently that page needs some major work, having 16 flyer images (which are basically images of the same kind) somewhat of an overkill, 5 would be plenty. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a hosting service (see WP:WWIN), we can easily provide an external link to another site that provides those original images. We could also create a montage that includes most of the images in table which takes up less space or somesuch as another possibility, it would be nice to also have some images from the event to vary the kinds of images in the article. |
*The format for disambiguation should use lowercase as per the usual Wikipedia:Manual of Style capitalization rules, so that Biology (Rave promoter) should be Biology (rave promoter) |
*I am aware of the distinction between acid house and rave (I have copyedited, researched and fact checked much of the house music and techno music articles, most of the bibliography I added), but it was my understanding that the term "rave" was not in wide use in 1988, but started in the early 1990s. I believe you when you say that Genesis was one of the first "rave" organisers, but my point was simply that at the time of the inception (1988) they weren't generally called "raves", at least not to the general public. |
We should probably continue further discussion on Talk:Genesis'88. |
