A tag has been placed on Uchusuma River requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Economic history articles

Hey, these days I have been working on a series of articles on the economic history of Chile (hence also the economic section in WotP). I would like you to take a look and do any corrections or contributions you might find necesary. The articles are:

Thank you for the invitation. At the moment I am making maps of the Chilean rivers, templates and so. I will take a look and to improve the new pages as soon as posible. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 14:48, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
On the river articles I dont think a ==See also== heading should go before the hydrography templates. That's not the (usual) style used in Wikipedia. Chiton (talk) 16:50, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to improve it. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 18:08, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute Resolution IRC office hours.

Hello there. As you expressed interest in hearing updates to my research in the dispute resolution survey that was done a few months ago, I just wanted to let you know that I am hosting an IRC office hours session this coming Saturday, 28th July at 19:00 UTC (approximately 12 hours from now). This will be located in the #wikimedia-office connect IRC channel - if you have not participated in an IRC discussion before you can connect to IRC here.

Floreana Island

You have made a number of edits changing Santa Maria Island to Floreana Island, which you seem to think is in the Azores. But Wikipedia's article about Floreana Island is about an island in the Galapagos. I am not familiar with either island, but stop making these changes, go back, and fix all the errors you have introduced.

One hint: there should be no links to the disambiguation page Santa Maria Island. Instead, links should go to Floreana Island (Galapagos), Santa María Island, Chile, or Santa Maria Island (Azores), whichever one is intended. Jc3s5h (talk) 21:47, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Evangelistas Islets and George Henry Slight

Hi Keysanger, thanks for adding the images to these articles. They do improve them substantially. Cheers. Maias (talk) 23:35, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's the idea in wikipedia. I was preparing to write a little about the lighthouse, I think it is more important than the islets, as you expanded the article. Great for wikipedia, for my English proficiency is not my strong side!. Any way, if you need a map and you don't find it in commons, tell me, perhaps I can deliver it. Hey Keysanger, I've given you the rollback and autopatrolled user rights. The only hitch is that you can't use rollback to remove edits that are not vandalism (see the link for more). Easter Island

Hi Keysanger. I note that you undid my addition to Easter Island, that is, the addition of the date of Easter Sunday in 1722. Given hat such information is widely available in ephemerides and almanacs, and that it is already listed in the artcile 1722, the necessity for a reference is questionable - and in any case, a {{fact}} template would have been far better than simply removing the information. Grutness...wha? 23:33, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A-C naval arms race

Hey Keysanger, sorry for not addressing your points earlier. I've done the ones I can, and I'll work on providing torpedo boat figures for the Argentines. However, for your last point ( a large order for rifles, field guns, sabers, and carbines, enough to arm an 80,000-strong [Chilean] army ... 2) Chile, it was forced to take out a £2 million pound loan in order to purchase Krupp weaponry ...), I don't have comparable Argentine figures. Would your sources happen to have them? Also, if your sources are good enough and you can add some substantial details to the article, we should be able to get this through WP:FAC (if you would like that). Cheers, Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 00:18, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In 1901 the Argentine Minister of War Richieri declared at the Parlament that the army had weapons for 300,000 men. This is stated by Lacoste and Julio de Arellano, Ministry Plenipotenciary of Spain in Buenos Aires (cited in Pedro Santos Martínez, "Documentos Diplomáticos sobre historia argentina, 1850-1954"), Tomo V: 1890-1909. Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Históricas "Cuyo", Mendoza, 2002, ISBN 987-43-1155-X, pág. 124, documento nr.:368). As far as I remember, the Argentine historian Georg von Rauch shows more details about Argentine (army) weapons purchase at that time, but I can't access the complete book by google. I will try to find the book at the library. Anyway, the article has my support to WP:FAC, the details we are dealing now aren't decisive for the naval race. Also the issue "torpederas" doesn't change the balance of power, although it should have an adequate mention. Von Rauch lists the torpederas here, but his figures are different than Lacoste. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 12:43, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I got the book Conflict in the Southern Cone, Georg v. Rauch, ISBN 0-275-96347-0, published 1999. He writes in page 114:
The arms race with Chile dictated the need for greater quantities of artillery. During the 1896-1898 contracts worth 12 millons marks were placed in Germany for 351 pieces. ...[300 old Krupps already in war arsenal], . On the other hand, one hundred Maxim machine guns Model 1892/1898 had replaced the older Gatling and Nodenfelts. ... . An additional 180 Krupp Model 1898 75 mm mountain guns, 36 Krupp Model 105 mm howitzers, and 12 Krupp Model 1902 130mm siege guns were delivered during 1898 and 1902.
It isn't easy to confront this Argentine figures with the Chilean in the article. How much is 12 millions mark?. In the table 6.8, page 157 he gives a Comparative Military Expenditures, Argentina and Chile, 1890-1902 in USD with absolutes and % of Budget.
Grand Total (12 Years):
* Argentina USD 258,684,417
* Chile USD 137,994,900
The expenditures are extracted from different sources (and probably different methods).
I don't like Rauch, he seems to be happy of so much wasting of money. If you can't get the book, I can transcript the relevant paragraphs and tables. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 17:52, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, he's probably happy because without that spending, he might not have a published book. ;-) I'll look and see if I can find historical exchange rates between German gold marks and US dollars. I can request Rauch through inter-library loan sometime on Saturday, but it won't get here for a couple weeks. It's helpful that he gives a grand total, and I'll definitely add that to the article, but I suspect we'll find that every historian will have their own figures. Does he break that down by year, perchance? It would be interesting to see what year Argentina passed Chile. Regarding FAC, it's a little short right now, and I think we can add more details to the article before submitting it. :-) Thanks for all your help, Keysanger. Now it's off to bed, with work in the morning! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 08:16, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chilean ship Lautaro (1818)

Hi Keysanger, I wish you hadn't moved this article. The Lautaro wasn't launched in 1800, the Windham was. The 1818 year is the year of accession for Windham into the Chilean Navy as Lautaro. A better way of dealing with the launch date would be to move the article to Windham (1800), with a redirect from Lautaro (1818). Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 12:47, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
