On Kyrenia editing
The image on Kyrenia was deleted by that IP because he is a Turk. All the municipalities of Cyprus (so far I have done Kyrenia, Larnaca and Limassol district) have the same image, it is simply absurd to say that the image is irrelevant. The image is very relevant to the article on Kyrenia. Please do not let him/her do that again. Thank you. Neo ^ 07:10, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations!
Because of your outstanding photographic contributions to Wikipedia, you've been selected as Chairperson for Doughnut Photography at the Doughnut Days 2009 event. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:34, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Holy trans-fat, Batman! Well, I'll be deep fried in bacon drippings and covered with Sno-Caps! I'm completely whelmed. Shall I quit my day job? Geoff Say something! 01:38, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
SPIL GAMES edit
The edit I made about Spill games was reverted because it was not constructive. It is all fact based and gives a complete view on the company. It was meant as te be as historical facts. The edit I made was entirely true and therefore I feel a bit censored by the reviewer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.169.195.60 (talk) 22:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Referring to this edit. Please don't take it personally, mate. Since you didn't add an edit summary, it looked like some of your edits were possibly misspelled or incorrect links. Please keep working on it and remember to add an edit summary that briefly describes what you're adding (or removing) so we can all tell it's a work in progress. Happy editing! Edits to Diaper
Hi
the link is to a blog I have created to help give information and good content
is that a problem
thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.30.58 (talk) 04:06, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- You mean this edit. You might want to take a look at the guidelines for external links and Wikipedia guidelines for sources. The ideal source for Wikipedia articles is an independent, third-party reference, which is verifiable. Does this help? I appreciate your good faith efforts to improve the encyclopedia. Keep on keepin' on and don't take anything personally! Geoff Say something! 05:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Removal of Key Reference from Meg Whitman Bio
You have inappropriately removed a detailed incisive article from NBC.com pertaining to "Meg Whitman's Dirty Dotcom Deals."
The source is a well-respected news bureau (NBC).
Ms. Whitman's page is NOT a political campaign page, it is supposed to be a NEUTRAL biography, and any attempt to expunge negative aspects of her past are entirely unacceptable, and a formal protest to Wikipedia administration will ensue immediately, if the reference in question is not replaced summarily. Moreover, a lock will be requested for the page to prevent these kinds of tendentious omissions in the future.
The fact that there was NO mention of her longstanding DIRECT connections to Goldman Sachs in the first place, given admission today by Goldman Sachs CEO Blankfein that the corporation willfully committed acts of malfeasance in the past, is inexcusable. The fact that Ms. Whitman benefited to the tune of MILLIONS via access to insider info provided by Goldman Sachs, and at the expense of the public shareholder, is not a minor issue.
By analogy, it would be akin to providing a biography of Martha Stewart, then neglecting to mention the chapter of her life dealing with her purchase of ImClone.

- Please accept my apology, it was an error. I assume you've corrected my error by now. Geoff Say something! 03:40, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I will correct it later, when I get a moment of free time. I wanted to await your response since I think it is inappropriate to reinsert info if a Wikipedia editor feels adamant that it must not be done. Given that you approve the logic behind the reinstatement of omitted info, then I cannot find any fault with you since I assume you had your reasons. Thanks...
BiographicalOmissionsCorrected (talk) 04:30, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Glane, it appears that something has been done to prevent the reinstated reference from working within the Wikipedia page. I tried FIVE times to make the link work within Wikipedia code format, yet it refuses to work this time around. Instead, receive a message that reads, "Article cannot be found." That is especially strange since the URL http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local-beat/Dirty-Dotcom-Deals-May-Doom-Whitman-Campaign-jw.html works fine in any web browser and connects to the pertinent news article. Until it was removed by you, the article could be found within Wikipedia code format. Anyway, here is the bottom line: the news article is NOT missing, it very much exists! Naturally it is a news article that the Whitman entourage would wish to suppress but it is extremely relevant to her biography. Would you please get this link to work again at Wikipedia, or I must make a formal investigation out of the entire matter.
BiographicalOmissionsCorrected (talk) 09:34, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- one final point, Glane....since Ms. Whitman has access to some incredible computer brains vis a vis internet coding, given her role as head of Ebay, then if you cannot re-establish the original "Dirty Dotcoms..." link, you might wish to investigate whether a counterfeit web page has been created that has been coded to appear PRIOR to the actual news article. If you cannot resolve the issue on your own, then I will hire my own code sleuth to look into the entire matter, if necessary. Finally, if you are able to reinstate the link, please remove the current WORK name nbcbayarea.com and replace it with NBC.com, as it appeared originally prior to your removal of the article, thanks.

- Whoa, mate, I only reverted a Wikipedia edit. I didn't do anything to a page or link anywhere else on the 'net. I'm just an editor around here, not a tech guru. At the time of your edits, I was just watching for for possibly unconstructive changes or vandalism across English Wikipedia and I mistook your edits for the former. Can't help you with the broken links. Sorry. Geoff Say something! 12:31, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, the issue was rectified by editor Tim Ross, except ideally, he should have replaced ref 11 news source, nbcbayarea.com and replaced it with the original news source NBC.com. Is that something you can do, since I feel I have "over-edited" that listing at this point? By the way, are you Australian? I see you use "mate" a lot in your writings, reminds me of my time spent in Sydney a long time ago, everybody called me "mate" down there.

Child interjects
Glane, if you're going to do complicated wiki-tampering could you at least update the photo upload options so they include creative commons 2.0. It's standard on Flickr where the majority of our photos seem to come from. Thanks! You're the best. (And exactly how much is Whitman paying you?) 20:29, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- How did you avoid the SineBot? Who are those incredibly photogenic Visitors and what is the allegory? Geoff Say something! 23:05, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- How is that show? I haven't caught it yet. But I did rewatch the original. Some interesting themes and such. It's nice to see science fiction resurging in popularity to ask tough questions and push people to think about our viewpoints, politics, perspectives and place in the Universe. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:01, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen the pilot and one other episode on Hulu. Kind of like Next Gen compared to Star Trek - the Original Series in that the special effects are much better (now that was tough!), but the story lines seem to be as challenging and entertaining. As you say, science fiction has always been able to deal with tough questions because "all those people are from other planets, so they don't threaten me." Hey there Gkane23,
I saw you were doing some (great) work fighting vandals. Thanks! However, I saw that you weren't warning some of the vandals that you reverted (which let them vandalize more because they did not get a final warning). Make sure you are hitting the revert and warn button on Huggle (Q is the shortcut). Thanks again, and keep up the good work! Tim1357 (talk) 03:38, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- That's what I was doing and for some reason tonight, Huggle was reverting but not warning when I hit the big, red revert and warn button. I've closed and reopened Huggle to see if that helps. Thanks...Geoff Say something! 03:42, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, it looks like you are warning users, which is weird because that (particular) guy wasn't warned. Maybe Huggle had an error or something. Disregard everything i said before this, and continue the good work! Anyways, have a nice day! Tim1357 (talk) 03:43, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Robots
Is that a robot going haywire and posting crazy messages. It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Battlestar Galactica or I, Robot. I don't even trust cell phones. They may turn on us at any time. ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:06, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I changed my standard Windows shut down sound to a WAV of HAL's voice saying, "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." So I have robots talking to me daily - I'm used to it. To quote Hunter S. Thompson, "The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over." Great News!!!
Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:31, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Hey Glane/ Geoff. I've been posting your photos various places. Very cool. Make sure you get scored for them in the WikiCup contest. I think the caption for the Bacon Materializer could use some clarification. I'm not sure that everyone will realize that it looks very similar to instructions for a hand dryer. Also, it's Naval, and not Navel. Although sometimes I stare at my navel and reflect on the joys of eating bacon. Have a great weekend! ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:07, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Child, I've corrected the Freudian slip in the Commons description and also added a parenthetical note about the stealth design feature (disguising as a hot air hand dryer). Geoff Who, me? 19:55, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Would you mind just United States?

- Oh, just Jersey the country. Sorry. My misunderstanding. Sure, i'll get you in right away.--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 00:13, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Kidding, I'm kidding. I'm the man with no country, but Jersey is the one I'd pick if I had to pick, since it's in the middle of the sea. (You can see that CoM is a terrible influence.) Geoff Who, me? 18:47, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

This was not the doughnut I was looking for...
Prego, you can upload this photo [1] to Wikipedia Commons for me? I want to use it in the frittole article. Make sure to save room when you eat the bacon and liver and you can fix some of this up for a main course! ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:18, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- Finito, amici. It is here. Geoff Who, me? 15:39, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- I just realized that's not one serving - that's someone in jeans standing behind the pot, yes? Wow! Geoff Who, me? 15:46, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- It kind of gives Cup O' Soup a whole new meaning. As they say in Italian (as opposed to regarding comic books) manga manga. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:52, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- The frittole article looks much better now with that picture you made available. It's a cool photo because it shows the traditional cooking vessel and the scale of effort. It might be something to try at your next tailgate party or even for a very special holiday supper. Thanks so much for your help. Next we need a frittole (pastry) photo. I couldn't find a usable one on flickr sadly. ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:03, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Bacon WikiCup Week 1 - Leader Interview
Glane23, as the current leader of the race for the Bacon WikiCup 2010, can you give us some feedback about how the Bacon Challenge has being going from your point of view.
1. Firstly, what are your general thoughts about the concept of creating large masses of bacon-related content and why?
- Bacon is the perfect food.
2. You have managed to climb into first place by uploading an impressive twenty-three pictures. Shall we expect more pictures to come from you, or are you thinking about writing an article?
- Finding, creating and uploading photographs, especially of food, seems to be a niche I've found for the moment. I've also gravitated more toward elf-like activities than toward creating new articles, as there are so many articles that need content improvements. I might write an article if the right bacon moves me.
3. You currently hold the lead by more than thirty points. Are you expecting to maintain your lead for a long time?
- One time I won a frozen turkey. Since then, I've never won anything, so I've had my moment of triumph. I can't imagine holding the lead for long, especially since the contest is just now starting to gain momentum.
4. Other editors have earned points by contributing content too. Which contributed content have you found the most interesting and why?
- I'm appalled and fascinated by Drmies' Calfs' Liver with Bacon article. Since he won't cook it, and since I haven't been able to find an existing photo with the proper rights available, I may have to cook it myself so we have a photo to illustrate the article. I've been trying to nerve myself up for the attempt, but catching the calf has proven to be the toughest part so far. I can't imagine why it runs like crazy whenever I try to approach it, although I suppose it might be the axe.
5. Apart from yourself, who do you think is most likely to win the Bacon WikiCup and why?
- I'd put my money on prolific contributor ChildofMidnight. I think he started the whole contest just so he'd have an excuse to write about something new.
