What he needs is the shareware, ffmpegX. It's almost free, and it's great work. |

I don't know why Quicktime won't demux to change mpeg to DV, but it can't. |

ffmpegX, a collection of Unix tools in a Mac interface, can convert just about anything to anything. There's a learning curve, and they might have to find an ac3 codec (there's a free one available), buy the mpeg2 playback codec from Apple, but you definitely can convert mpegs to DV. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/ffmpegx.html |

For scanning the negatives: Just put them on a ligth table and take a picture of each with a digital camera; you can control the quality, and it is free!

Can't listen to KFI640 on my computer
I work at a company which has a firewall. I used to be able to listen to KFI640 on my computer but now my computer seems to be searching but w/o a connect. It's almost as if the sight is not answering.
Mac problem with upgrading
I have a Beige desktop G-3 that WAS running system 9.x.x and I had read that I could upgrade to 10.x when I tried this the CD was put into the computer and was told to reformat the hard drive completely, which is what I wanted to do. The CD started up and started to do it's thing then the screen went dark and the machine kept going but here's the problem, when I restarted the machine it gives the start up chime like it's going to come up but the screen does not come on. The screen has not come up since then and I can't use the machine. I do have a video card installed and have removed it to change the screen input to the mac connection to no avail. I have tried another monitor, no luck. I have asked numerious tech support places no luck. What can I do to get the machine back to either system, just so I can use this machine.
