Template:Sisterlinkswp Croatia (official name Republika Hrvatska) is a country in Europe bordering the Mediterranean, Central Europe and the Balkans. The capital is Zagreb and the port of Split is the second city. It is inhabited mostly by Croats, a Slavic people, and the main language is Croatian. The population is stable at around four and a half million. The country has a thirteen-century long history, but it relatively recently became independent from Yugoslavia.
Croatia is now a democracy, WTO member and a candidate for EU membership.
