The Polestar 5 is an upcoming high-performance battery electric full-size sedan to be produced by Swedish automobile manufacturer Polestar.
As of 2024, the Polestar 5 is expected to become commercially available in 2025.[1]
Overview
The Polestar 5 was first previewed by the 2020 Polestar Precept concept car.[2][3] In June 2022, a prototype for the Polestar 5 was shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.[4]
The Polestar 5 will be built on the brand’s first bespoke EV architecture, developed by the Polestar UK R&D team. The platform is made with bonded aluminium. The interior specifically featured materials like natural fibre composite deco panels made from flax fibre, and 3D-knitted upholstery made from recycled PET – both of which have already made their production debuts in Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.[1]
Specifications
The dual electric motor powertrain of the Polestar 5 will produce 650 kW (870 hp) and 900 N⋅m (660 lb⋅ft) of torque.[1] The vehicle will be equipped with a 800-Volt battery developed and manufactured by SK On.[1][5]
