Koirala family (Nepali: कोइराला परिवार) is one of the most prominent political families of Nepal. Krishna Prasad Koirala, a Rana-era socio-political activist, was exiled to Bihar, India by then Prime Minister Maharaja Chandra Sumsher.[1] Four members of the family, including three brothers (Matrika Prasad Koirala, B. P. Koirala and Girija Prasad Koirala) and their maternal cousin Sushil Koirala, have been Prime Ministers of Nepal.
The Koirala family were original inhabitants of Dumja village, Sindhuli district in Nepal.[2]
