English: St. Mary's Church Historic Marker ~ In 1886 Episcopal Reverend Locke organized congregants for a new episcopal church, meeting at local halls, including Liberty Hall. By 1888 a congregation was formed under the care of Rev. Noble who led the group to raise the funds and build the church. Construction finished in 1888, with the building consecrated the following year by Abram Newkirk Littlejohn (1824 –1901), the first bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island.
