If you are a thumbnail collector or collector of Chinese minerals, you will not find a better example of a Chinese gem cassiterite crystal than this one. In fact, it was the top piece of an entire lot we purchased last year. These are of course not to be confused with the far more common opaque black cassiterites from Pingwu. Here you have a deep coffee/smoky-colored crystal that was trimmed out on just the merest bit of matrix, somehow with no damage to the crystal, which is complete and displayable from all sides. It is a true "jewel" for a discriminating collector. SO MUCH BETTER, even, in person! This has to be one of the best cassiterite thumbs out there. Certtainly that I have seen.
