Rekha Pandey (born 1 May 2002) is an Indian beauty queen and pageant titleholder from Dadra & Nagar Haveli,[1] who was crowned Femina Miss India 2024 - 1st Runner-Up.[2] She represented the Union Territories of India in the 60th edition of the annual Femina Miss India[3] contest.

Early life and education

Hailing from Dadra and Nagar Haveli[1], Rekha was born to supportive parents with humble backgrounds. Watching prominent Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Madhuri Dixit, she was driven by a passion to connect with something greater than just herself. The dream of becoming a Miss India started at the age of 9 or 10, when she would note down qualities and attributes required to win the title.[1]

Rekha studied at Lions English School, Silvassa[4] and did academically well, with a bronze medal in the International Commerce Olympiad. With a degree in Film and Mass Communication from Indira School of Communication, Savitribai Phule Pune University[4], she is also passionate about creative storytelling. While pursuing her degree in Mass Communication in Pune, she directed, researched, and scripted the documentary 'Rajmachi - Bhavna Antarmanachi', which won the Best Film About a Social Issue Award at the 2023 edition of the Student World Impact Film Festival (SWIFF).

Rekha is fluent in Hindi and English, along with Gujarati. She is a professionally trained dancer as well.

Pageantry

Femina Miss India

Femina Miss India 2024[5]

Rekha had her first attempt at pageantry with the Times Femina Miss India 2023, however wasn't successful in getting through to the next round. However, in 2024, she went on to win the title of Femina Miss India Union Territory 2024, collectively representing for all the Union Territories conducted by the Miss India Organization.

Subsequently, she went on to win the title of Femina Miss India 2024 - 1st Runner-Up in October, sassed by Indian actress and model, Neha Dhupia and crowned by Shreya Poonja,[6] the Femina Miss India 2023 - 1st Runner-Up.

She also earned the sub-titles of Times Miss Photogenic and Times Miss Beautiful Smile during the competition.[7]

When asked about what the competition and the title mean to her,

"Since then, it has represented empowerment and transformation in my eyes. This iconic platform, where magic has thrived for the past 60 years, offers a unique opportunity to embrace that magic—a journey few are fortunate enough to embark on," she says[3]
