Azaad (transl. Independent) is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language historical drama film directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor. The film stars Ajay Devgn and Diana Penty alongside newcomers Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani.[3]
Azaad was theatrically released on 17 January 2025.[4][5]
Premise
In 1920s India, a young stable boy forms an extraordinary bond with a spirited horse named Azaad. Their intertwined journey unfolds as a tale of rebellion and resilience, where his quest to ride the majestic horse transforms into a path of self-discovery and courage.

Marketing
The film was announced by Ajay Devgn during the promotion of Singham Again on 30 October 2024[7][8] and the teaser was released on 5 November 2024.[9][10] While the release date of the film was announced on 30 November 2024.[11][12] The trailer was dropped on 6 January 2025.[13][14]

The music of the film is composed by Amit Trivedi while lyrics are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and Swanand Kirkire. The first single titled "Birangay" was released on 12 December 2024.[15] The second single titled "Azaad Hai Tu" was released on 22 December 2024.[16] The third single titled "Uyi Amma" was released on 4 January 2025.[17] The fourth single "Ajeeb-O-Gareeb" was released on 10 January 2025.[18]

Reception
Critical response
Box office
As of January 18, 2025, official figures for the second day’s box office collection are yet to be released. However, industry estimates suggest that “Azaad” may earn approximately ₹2 crore net on its second day, bringing the total net collection in India to around ₹3.5 crore.[20]
