† 2024 SEC tournament winner Rankings from AP poll |
The 2023–24 South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team represented the University of South Carolina during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Gamecocks, led by sixteenth-year head coach Dawn Staley, played their home games at Colonial Life Arena and competed as members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Staley won her 600th game as head coach on February 22, 2024, in 786 games (534 at South Carolina).[1] The season saw the Gamecocks not only capture their third national title in the history of the school's women's basketball program, but also become the 10th Division I women's basketball team to finish the season undefeated.[2][3]
Previous season
The Gamecocks finished the season 36–1 (16–0 SEC). They won the SEC regular season and tournament championships and received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where they defeated Norfolk State, South Florida, UCLA, and Maryland before falling to Iowa in the Final Four.
